Good evening all,

Just asking for a friend, does anyone have a clue when the next Qantas DSC can/will happen? Kinda remember pre covid they had one around late Sept/Early Oct.

Thanks.

I can say with 96% confidence that the next one won't be until March 2024. It's been a while since they deviated from offering it in Feb/Mar each year.

Gives a solid blueprint for planning next year.

For me what matters is whether QF actually has the fares I want and it’s offered on a time where I actually need to do some booking. I passed on this years offer as neither was the case.

My guess is we’ll see one in March next year as demand for travel remains high and despite QF’s reputation being in the toilet, I don’t see how something like a DSC will help fix that reputation.

You are generous - I thought that their reputation is several yards past the S bend!

After reading everyone's thoughts I agree that it sounds unlikely that we will get a DSC this year - but it sure would be nice!

I do now hope it is next year as you suggest @kangarooflyer88 .......only because I booked QFd today with dates & fares close enough to suit our needs.

I will be pi**ed if it drops tomorrow 🙄

Wish that double status credit would come this week look what's around the corner

Aviation giant Qantas says it has no choice but to increase airfares in response to rising fuel costs with domestic and international ticket prices to jump 3.5 per cent from next week.
The move follows a market update last month, in which Qantas warned it would have to make adjustments to fares if fuel prices continued to climb.

An airline spokesman said Qantas and Jetstar has absorbed recent fuel hikes but given the current tensions in the Middle East and broader economic factors including a weaker Australian dollar, the price of fuel was expected to stay elevated for some time.

Wonder if the VA promotion today will spur Qantas on to one? IIRC there was a VA one back in Feb before the Qantas one dropped in March?

I highly doubt it. QF's motives are very differnt to VA.
VFF wants to steal QFF flyers over to VA and also keep their books looking better.

QFF customers want the brand to get back to it's glory days and also be able to spend their glut of points. Putting a DSC serves really no ones interest from QFs perspectives others than mint more Gold and Plats in a year that you don't even need that much SC to retain WP. (250 Rollover, 100 PCP, 75 sorry, 50 Green tier + DSC is a minimum of 475 SC for free) Heck you could easily hit 1200 without even hitting the 500 for loyalty bonus.

I expect more of this sort of points and classic rewards flight releases. They've done Europe and US. I expect a big drop into Asia as well at some point.

Oh yes, I also see a lot of J seats on the days i happen to need them all of the sudden since yesterday morning from PVG and J,F to LAX/DFW.

They're missing a premium marketing drop from Asia. Friend booked the Y drop for HND a few weeks back.
