Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Trying this 2012 Harewood Estate Shiraz I picked up in an EpiQure mixed case. Very ordinary - not worth the $20 paid. To be fair it is a little young but no fruit and it leaves a slight metallic taste on the left side and back of my tongue :(

Come to think of it this is an OT post as it is not a nice wine I have drunk IMO

Was looking for some dessert ideas tonight and found this in my "cellar" ;)
Excellent dessert wine, ready to drink now!

I have an '08 Noble Mud Pie in the cellar, how much longer do you think it had?

Vinomofo had the Shiraz/Cabernet 2012 for $9.90, and from your comments, it is obvious that the Cabernet makes a big difference. My combination also benefited from a dozen hours open. Nevertheless, both don't have the wow factor, but mine sounds like it's got more integrity.

I had this a few months ago at dinner and found it equally underwhelming. I like to think of myself as an appreciator of many types of Shiraz/Syrah but this was just bland and as you said metallic in taste.

Well my embargo on Hill Of Grace ended last night and it went well with the beef cheeks. With dessert we had Billecart champagne.
So I have now forgiven Henschke for 2 failed corks in the cellar. They don't have a replacement policy so I dropped them for a decade and went with others. Times up and we really liked it.

I have the Rod and Spur on the list for tonight:)

Welcome aboard Magnus, I'm sure it will be good - what vintage ?

edit; after last nights disappointing effort I'm enjoying a 2012 Cab Shiraz V&A Lane from the Fo tonight - opened at 8am this morning to breath - life is good again

Fantastic wine, lots of alcohol on the nose, velvety palate, dry finish (the Cabernet component as I understand it), with lots of fruit. Well that's about the best description I can come up with.

Pity I cant get the picture around the right way...

I love Barossa wines and stick mainly to shiraz or GSM with Teusner & Torbreck being ones I particularly like...as a bit of a background.

PJM cooked for me last night  - and provided the wine:

A very more-ish wine. Not your typical Barossa monster. 13.5% and very refined. Excellent drinking.

how many does maketh a quorum of imbibers on a monthyly basis?

Depends on the night! Roughly 30 seated at tables of 4, or 5 as needed. One of the members presents the wines for blind tasting out of their private cellar. 6 wines, 2 bottles of each. The club reimburses the presenter a modicum to restock their cellar. The wines in this picture were those brought by the tasters in the group to have or blind taste with dinner after the options game. The other picture posted were the wines we tasted blind and were scored on. This was the presenter's first presentation to the group as a relatively new member. FYI the Tahbilk was a 98 and very drinkable;)

Bethany made it into British Airways First Class so I bought some on the strength of that and I was very pleased with it.
