Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Depends on the night! Roughly 30 seated at tables of 4, or 5 as needed. One of the members presents the wines for blind tasting out of their private cellar. 6 wines, 2 bottles of each. The club reimburses the presenter a modicum to restock their cellar. The wines in this picture were those brought by the tasters in the group to have or blind taste with dinner after the options game. The other picture posted were the wines we tasted blind and were scored on. This was the presenter's first presentation to the group as a relatively new member. FYI the Tahbilk was a 98 and very drinkable;)

Supurb comment !! Defied gravity did it also.....

these types of wines that cost a lot more than normal and more importantly deliver the wow factor is what all this wine game is about.

There's a lovely smoothness in a good Cab Sav which is why I often prefer them over a Shiraz, and this was exactly it. Just perfect.

Another one of ChrisDPom's well-curated oldies last night. Cork very sound, wine in very good shape.

An eclectic mix of wines recently in my household. Enjoying the Tempanillo last night and should finish it tonight - and Mrs QF WP drank the Chardonnay

A wine that was a giveaway at a breakfast function this morning (a 2000 Grange). Damn, I missed winning it - bloke that did knew it was good but has no cellar.

I did go up to him and ask him about his intentions - I just hope he doesn't crack it over the weekend BBQ. He's not a collector and has no wine fridges. Was only 60 people at the lunch, so the best odds I've ever had of winning a Grange - although I have won one Grange before, it is only a 2005 which has a couple of years slumbering left.

Last night's committee meeting of our Wine Options Group where the inner sanction is brought out:mrgreen:
A 2001 Steingarten Riesling (screwcap) followed by these impeccable reds.

10% Cabernet in this Sangiovese. Serious Super Tuscan.
Ah I'm partial to a good SuperTuscan.... Sounds good. Although it should now really classified these days as a Chianti given it's still 80% Sangiovese I believe with the rest 'foreign' grapes such as CabSav. If you ever find a '71 in perfect condition on taste I'll fly in! :)
