Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Then you'll like the look of this French Pinot that I picked out of the rack, NZflygirl.

Very smooth, surprisingly not much to the nose but drying front of tongue and very pleasant to have a couple of glasses tonight.

I've had a couple of people tell me I would probably like the French reds as I'm into the lighter end. Unfortunately I had a couple of unmemorable glasses of wine and a forgettable dinner then was sick (confined to the room type sick) in Paris and only came right when we left. Still keen to return and give things another go though! Side trip to Reims maybe?

There's loads of reds on here! Guess that's not surprising given that's what Oz is known for but I just think with your hot weather in summer I just can't go past a good sav or Riesling. I suppose there's some funky reds you can do chilled.

And you didn't invite me?

... How was it?

Sorry! I didn't buy the tickets so didn't think it was my place. Really good! Top (most expensive) wine was the 2006 (?) Taittinger Comtes de Champagne
But I really enjoyed tasting some Aussie sparklings that I haven't tried before :)
My cousin has our tasting notes.. Wozza and Beefarmer would be so proud LOL ;) :)

Daver6 & Uppy - I also enjoy Perrier-Jouët. We had a few cases of the NV at my friends birthday recently, and it was divine until the venue ran out of stock. (Despite our repeated requests to increase their stock holding, they didn't believe we would go through at least 5 cases on the night) :o :o :( :(

Sounds good.

According to my records it was advertised in their 26 Nov newsletter, so I could have gone if I bothered to read it.

I love it so much I named my first born - Belle Epoque :)
(not to worry people... she's a dog :) )

What did you think of the Doyard?

I actually quite enjoy it for the price point, especially at MSC "dine in".

Last night's wine tasted blind. The Grosset Polish Hill 1997 (cork) was drinkable but a bit over the hill. All the reds were from the 2002 vintage and presented very well. First time I'd tasted a Noon Cabernet, impressive wine:cool:IMG_2910.jpgIMG_2911.jpg

Who would have guessed :p:p:mrgreen:.

Only people guessing - no one who knows me  ;)

To keep the mods away.... I have enjoyed these recently at a work function.

While not generally a fan of McLaren Vale wines, this blend was nice and easy drinking with all the normal GSM qualities.

Goanna is not a brand I am familiar with but the '04 SV was IMO divine with a fruity/dark berry nose and meaty, earthy velvety, cassis taste that I am sure would have been even better if it had had some time in a decanter.

I also enjoyed the many bottles of Coonawarra Cab Sauv and Napoleon Champers consumed (guzzled ?) at the recent AFF meet up in MEL
