Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Daver6, I am concerned that two of the bottles have stoppers on them. This implies they were not emptied.

Very very observant. Your concern is appreciated :) Turned out the group were keen to move onto the DP. About 3 seconds after this picture was taken, those pesky stoppers were removed and the remains consumed.

I can get my head around the wine but still not around the deep fried turkey :p.

I was pleasantly surprised by the turkey actually. One five kg free range turkey that has lost its head the previous day. Same spices rubbed on. 45 minutes in the cooker. 15 minutes to cool. Then carved and consumed. Not at all oily (if you are thinking KFC, it was nothing like that). The meat was beautifully moist.

What was the deep fryer - a 44 gallon drum :shock::p.

My flight gets in at 3pm. I would be happy for you to pick me up to save time.

 Today? Currently at carols by candlelight.

But I was thinking of you when posting, quick trip to Rockford for black Shiraz on public release. Limit 3 bottles per customer.

Just catching up on this thread. Ahh there are some great stuff here

Went on a blast through the Yarra Valley a fortnight ago, doing the back country roads as well as the cellar door tastings. Came back and picked through the cellar for some YV wines to reminisce. Here's the first, a pinot from 2012 - anything from that year seemed to be blessed with Dionysian goodness.

I picked this one up from Coldstream cellar door, with the charming and knowledgeable Rowland helping me out with the tastings. Exquisite. It really is a step (albeit a very expensive step up) from their regular and single vineyard Pinots.

I signed up for their wine club so I can get access to their 2013 vintage, which apparently is just as good. Even if it's 80% as good as the 2012 I'd be a happy quaffer.

Called a mate on Sat and said 'Lets have a drink for Chrissie?' - so off to Mordialloc Cellar Door we went:

Went down a treat - still thirsty:

Remember how warm MEL was on Sat? We were still parched:

Then it was time for 'one for the road':

Must admit - was feeling a tad second hand Sun morn!

I think the 2012 regular Pinot is an excellent wine and brilliant value for money. I purchased a half dozen of the 2013 on the back of that. So far it hasn't impressed me. Just seemed really closed. Hopefully a little more time is all that is required. I've not tried the reserve, but heard very good things about it.

This was a pretty nice Pinot. Can't remember when we had it but it was sometime last week. It gets a bit like this during the silly season
Will soon be time to crack open some FIFA Champagne I think :D

I really enjoyed their Chardonnay. Apparently the owners have very close links with the royal family and their wine was served at Will and Kate's wedding. They have a nice bbq area you can use too.

Why the tumbler with the third wine?

Way too warm for me to drink red wine last Saturday!

The Diana from Cullen's arrived as a result of my partner being a WP1 and great news is she doesn't drink alcohol. Now I rate this just behind Hill Of Grace, Penfolds 707 and no others so that was a lovely gift.
