Yes, EK has good alcohol selection.

Yes, it is a stunning wine. In hindsight I think my CT score of 94 may have been a little on the mean side. Wozza probably has it closer at 95. If it had caught me on a good day, a 96 may have even been in order.

I reckon I have had two maximum, so will have to adapt my commando position and seek it from the undergrowth. Yes, there is actually wine in my house that's not under my bed, but ironic as it is, the trail of wine cartons actually IS under my bed leading from the trapdoor in the garage under the floorboards. It is a ludicrous issue I have but at least the temperature remains moderate. there is not too much radiated heat coming thru the boards these days......

I must source out the AP Reserves. I think I may have purchased both the shiraz and Cab..dunno. And after last nights efforts on CM, I feel like that fat kid who has eaten too much chocolate .
I was thinking of the young DB actually with a Rothbury 2009 Semillon that was up for sale, but it just didn't click for me.

Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils Chablis Grand Cru Clos des Hospices 2010: Peaches, lemon, citrus, flinty minerality. Oak is very light. The palate is great with good acid and a long finish. This is great Chardonnay. CT93 from me!

Been a while, a mate popped round and I opened this - De Iuliis Steven Vineyard Shiraz 2013 - First of six. I'm not a fan of Hunter wines (throw back to Brett galore years gone by....apology in advance to the diehards) but this was quite impressive. Medium bodied,translucent, blackcurrents and cherry, elegant are the first thoughts. Fruit is not massive , longer haul is questionable, light white pepper on the back...really enjoyed it even though not my usual style....

Friday afternoon shared one of my recent 'finds' with a mate. This being the Western Australian Byron and Harold second top label, Rose and Thorns 2014 Pinot. This is the one that in February someone convinced me that it was the best pinot I have ever had. On the night, I probably had eighty per cent of that bottle and every mouthful was the same. Strangely, it has never got back to that high level, but the last two, including yesterdays were really lovely. Not in that 'wow' style where something just nails it like in February, but both of us agreed how effortless it was to enjoy. I reckon I'd give it about a 7.6 compared to an over 9 in Feb.

I have ordered directly from the winery a few months ago and I accidentally received acknowledgement of a 2 case purchase not one. So they kindly send a mixed dozen of similar second tier Chardonnay, Riesling and cabernet. Had the Cabernet a few weeks back and it's lovely. Austere is the only word to summarize it. So this little stuff of mine hopefully will prove a winner with the three varietals.

I guess a bit of wine will go down this weekend for folks so enjoy.

"Wolf Blass are more than just a quality export quaffer for the UK. At the upper end they have the Estates Series that exemplify a Barossa district. Here, the low lying ancient sedimentary soils and cool breezes of the Dorrien district showcases a really classy, finely balanced, elegant wine, with silky long rounded tannins; and an intense flavour profile of blackberry, blueberry, dark chocolate, expresso, black olives and oaked spices. Just hitting its straps, but with years ahead of it. A Wozza 95/100 (4.2/5.0) from me.

Perfect panacea, as the Wozza family return jet lagged from Dubai on business (that's work not J!), and having spent most of the day today lugging our belongings, as we downsize by over a 1,000 sqm's! And a fitting celebratory wine as I've just discovered I've reclaimed my Velocity Gold status from our recent trip (it's a long story, but I'm back!).

Wozza, it's not just me that enjoys a good six inch sub.....looks delightful, full flavoured with the full rye hitting it's peak and the cold tuna adding that extra dimension. Not withstanding that the whole thing is wrapped in 2016 cloth, I reckon it's very young and should hit it's straps around 2018. Probably a little chilled coming from the Subway refrigerators, I think the vintage needs respect due to the introduction of tuna. A classy morsel that tends to be intrusive, I think in your enjoyment you forgot how good this marine life can become. Oh yes, did I mention the red you enjoyed with it

Still never turned left on a flight, despite our constant travels (our little family has done four family holidays to Fiji, Bali, 6 spots in Europe and Dubai this year, by way of example) and despite the fact our very cute 6 year old asked on our Singapore Airlines flight back from Dubai - can you upgrade us to J!! Is the little mite on here - is there a Wozza Mini?! Cracked this tonight with a thick BBQ steak. Pretty interesting. A fairly new producer here (but from buying and renaming an old vineyard + buying grapes in).

Lovely earthy, chocolately richness. 15% if that part of the label doesn't show - but you wouldn't know it.
