Me too! The earbuds definitely need replacement. I spoke to Bose service in Chennai and they told me that it will cost around INR 3000 (roughly A$60) ... Would be keen to know how much it costs here in AU to have this replaced.
I bought replacements from Bose or Amazon- about $30 as I recall. Easy enough to replace yourself.
Were these the original Bose merchandise? If yes, $30 does sound cheap than getting it done in India ...
I've bought original replacements from Bose for my QC15s before. They were sifit.e enough to fit
I had to purchase replacement ones. On the Bose website go to headphones > accessories and look for cushion kits. I think they are ~$40 each. Make sure you get the right ones for your headphones. I managed to get some from a physical store, but you may find it easier to find these online.
I had the same issue on a very old pair (12 years old and still going strong) when the ear cup padding perished. I called them and they replaced for free. They just mailed me the parts. Very good customer service. This was pre-COVID in about 2018 or 2019 from memory.

That's interesting @coriander - I am looking to replace my old, beloved Bose QC25 in the next couple of months. I have really loved them, but they are now 12 years old and pretty much done - still wired, and it's getting harder all the time to plug them in to my devices - I have a whole wardrobe of adapters in the carry case. I was looking at the new Sony ones as they had a good write up, but I know that I loved my Bose, so was hesitating...The only trickiest bit is to make sure you carefully line up the oval shape EXACTLY then press-click to secure the pad. If you are even slightly off, the pad falls off 30 minutes later
I now have Sony WH-1000MX4s and they blow my Bose (QC25) into the weeds.
I bought XM4s recently because they fold (XM5s don't). The XM4s are both wired and Bluetooth wireless and appropriate cable and aircraft adapter are included. Also has Google Assistant which involved a bit of a learning curve. As I'm confined to hospital for the next month or more, I love that these will pause music, streaming etc if someone walks into my cell to talk to me.
Thanks for this info - I wasn't keen on the ones that don't fold - the case is very big compared to what I am used to.
Thinking of getting myself a pair of these also. Currently have an Amex offer to spend $550 at Sony and get $100 back. The XM4's are going for $439 on their website, but nothing of much interest to get me across $550 to get another Sony item for $10..
The audio would be out of sync doing that though assuming you are watching a video.
Have used the AirFly pro on three trips Aus-Europe this year and have had no problems. In fact i would hesitate to go back to a wired set of headphones. Depending on how much you sleep on one legs depends on whether you need to charge it during your transit. Or just plug it into an adjacent USB port in the seat whilst you watch it.
Not noticed this to be an issue to be honest.
