No middle name on MH flight issued by QF

Hi, me and my partner are due to travel from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur with Malaysia Airlines in November. The ticket was booked and issued by Qantas as we used some of our QFF points. Upon looking at the ticket, I noticed that my partner's middle name is not on it at all (no middle initial, nothing). His middle name is on his passport.

Now, I know that QF has never had an issue with not having middle names on their flights, but this is our first time with MH, and we are unsure of their policy. I've tried calling both airlines, and neither of them can do a name correction, which I think is absolutely bogus. But now, here I am, panicking and stressed because I have had issues with names on tickets before, and I am unsure of what to do next. The option I have left is to cancel and rebook (which is never happening unless I know for sure it is going to be an issue)

Anyone that has flown with MH recently that experienced similar issues?

Shouldn’t be an issue, maybe only a problem if your father has a three barreled Chinese name where all three names are part of the overall name. But even then from what I’ve read still probably not an issue.

Welcome aboard @hectorlo96 not a problem. Have flown MH and never had an issue without my middle name on the ticket.

Welcome to AFF! Flown many times on MH without a middle name. Never been an issue.

How about if my middle name is under the GIVEN name, because my passport is like
SURNAME: xx_
GIVEN NAME: AAA BBB
but i have left the BBB part, will this be an issue?

All passports put your middle name under given name (because, well, it is a given name), so not to worry.

Whilst it appears that the author of this thread has not logged on to AFF for nearly 2 years, the views of other experienced members in this thread indicate the omission of a middle name should not be of concern.

Mine is even weirder. I have a hyphenated first name. Airlines dont use hyphens in their bookings, so the bit after the hyphen appears as a middle name. Still there is no issue. Have flown many times with different airlines.

Oh that's great to know, thank you! I'm flying out of Da Nang and a few weeks ago I flew domestically from there to Ho Chi Minh and it was security who wouldn't let me through because of this issue, not the airline. So fingers crossed it is all okay!
