Noise Cancelling Headphones

A couple of months back I was up to replace 2 pairs of Bose and went for the Noisehush after reading the review here on AFF.

They are much cheaper and I felt I was paying for the logo on the side with the Bose and others I looked at.

Overall I am pleased with the Noisehush for the price. I give them a relatively hard time and over breakages and leaving them behind.......like sun glasses. I recommend Noisehush, can't be beat for the $$$s.

Matt

I had the Noisehush for 12 months however the connector broke 13 months into ownership. While they were good and doing their job they weren't top quality.

I now have Bose QC20's In-ear and love them, I often put on a chillout mix on the plane and just drift to sleep with them in.

The July Qantas inflight magazine has 4 brands/models:

Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Wireless $799.95

Thanks for posting this info. I'd be really keen to try the Sennheiser 2.0's. They're dearer than I'd have expected, but I do love my MM-550-Xs except for the slightly smaller-than-ideal ear cups....which the new Momentums address, apparently. Mind you, I still haven't tried out the Parrot Zik 2.0s I bought my +1 for Christmas. I hold great expectations for those as well (she loves them).

While the name is somewhat synonymous with Buy Other Sound Equipment, I've been very happy with the various Bose NCs I've had over the years. Now onto 2nd pair of QC20s and they are excellent. Much better than the over the ear types and one can easily sleep in them without issues. Sound quality is not brilliant but very good, IMHO.

I've never had BOSE but I'm led to believe their noise cancelling is quite probably the best of the bunch. It's a pity they don't move forward with other technology like Bluetooth.

I agree, love my QC20s.
Had a baby sitting in front of me who cried for the entire duration of AKL-SYD last week. The only reason I know this is due to me periodically looking forward between the seats and seeing his sad little face whilst watching the Taken movies wearing my QC20s with the volume turned up a notch. Absolute bliss :)

There is also a reason I call mine 'wife-cancelling'....

Lucky she agrees and wants her own pair! :)

Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Wireless $799.95

Beats Studio Wireless $479.95

Sony MDR-1R Noise Cancelling MK2 $569.95

Bose QuietComfort 25 $399

Bose the cheapest.

I picked up 2 x QC25's for $349 at DJ's and claimed the tax on the way out. Therefore around $317 each. Good deal given USD plus state taxes...

I usually leave them behind somewhere before they stop working.

You too? So last February I grabbed a pair of PSB M4U-2s and took them on a series of flights and ended up losing them. British Airways never returned them but they were covered under insurance.

Was lucky though as the Samsung Level Overs went on sale a few weeks later and managed to snag them at $226.00 which is a pretty good price for NC + Bluetooth headphones.

Might have been a blessing in disguise as I prefer the Samsung Level Overs to the PSB M4U-2s based entirely on the weight of the headphones. I'd imagine the M4U-2s had slightly better sound quality but without being an audiophile the comfort of the Level Overs (for longer wears) and bluetooth functionality probably push it ahead for me, especially at $226.00 compared to $370.00

Haven't taken the Level Overs onto a plane yet but the M4U-2s noise cancelled perfectly fine in my experience. Only thing I disliked was that they felt really hot around my ears after a while and could probably cause neck pains given how damn heavy they were.

Picked up a pair of QC25s the other day at JBHiFi - they price matched Sydney Hi Fi who have them on sale at $335 - now to get some more back from TRS on Tuesday when we head to Europe for a holiday (using AA points of course :))

I have been looking at the Bose QC20 (in-ear headphones) and I am wondering from all you FF, is the NC really good?
I have a pair of Sennheiser NC at the moment, but people seem to love Bose and I need to upgrade anyway at the moment. Question is if they are as good as they say? Do they block out the noise completely or not more than a pair that had good seal?

I have a set of the QC20 and think the noise cancelling is outstanding - however as they are my first pair of NC anything I cannot offer a comparison

I've had the QC20i's for 18 months now and wouldn't change a thing. Very happy with them.

I am happy with mine. They are much more FF friendly than the bigger ones which are far too big to carry around. I can't understand why people carry on a huge travel pillow and giant headphones.

I find them a bit uncomfortable after several hours but, they also don't get the noise when resting 1 side of your head against the seat.

Happy with mine from QC15's.....just remember you cannot change the recharge battery so they over time just become normal headphones.
I am able to listen to other peoples conversations on the plane due to the noise cancelling ability.....
Light, small and just work!

Picked up my QC20's today. Jb Hifi didnt want to price match completely, but came down to $340, which was ok as I will get another $32 back in tax refund. Cheaper than Perth Duty Free :D

Took me a looong time to make up my mind to buy them or not as its quite an investment for me. Hope they live up to the expectations
