Normal Lounge food

What kind of hot food is available in the ADL QP? Similar to that in the MEL/SYD ones?

The Adelaide QP is very much a snack place. I think breakfast is the best time. No separate lounge for WP or Business. But usually a space can be found.

What surprises me is the amount of $$$ Qantas must spend on grog at the QP but they don't seem to give a fig about some decent food.
Not that it is decent but as an example, when they put out party pies they are gone in a flash. Surely that would tell you that more hot food is required.

QF and VA get very good prices on the wine, partly because wineries are very keen for the exposure. I have often sourced for home consumption the very good Pinots usually on offer from QF in the domestic J lounges.

Yep. I doubt Qantas pays a lot for their alcohol. A lot of it is exposure and they get very attractive deals from their suppliers I am sure.

I'm generally there for morning flights. Funny because i joined QP initially to get access to a bar ;)
Breakfast is not my main meal of the day nor my most important.

I can do without food for a few hours early in the day....

More party pies? Really?

Surely I'm not the only one out there who's a health freak? I would love some more fresh fruit, salad and vegetables in the PER lounge rather than the "comfort" or "junk" food. It's hard enough to try and maintain some semblance of a decent diet when on the road as it is!

There was a chilli con carne and a spinach cannelloni at the Cairns lounge last Friday late afternoon. Not often I have seen a hot option there at that time.

The economics of beer in Australian airline lounges has always intrigued me. Rather than a single quaffing beer on tap or beer pouring robots Japanese style (e.g. Sapporo or Boags Premium) there is lots of variety largely in bottles. Is variety more important than singular quality when it comes to beer in the lounge?

I also note that in most lounges, beer is behind the counter, while the wine out front. If there were robots, there could be more self-serve, or could that be dangerous?

You just have to live life dangerously sometimes

Fiona, that pie looks great (I hope there was sauce available !). I must be missing something as I only ever seem to find the big silver bowl of wet unidentifiable goulash in the J lounges I visit (MEL, SYD, BNE, PER and CBR).

What time of day do they put out this type of fare ? I normally fly QF DOM day trips, out and back in the day or back the following day so I am usually travelling between dawn and dusk. Perhaps I should rethink my travel strategy to hit the lounges more around meal times :)

... or stick with my current aim to (try to) get home in time for dinner *shock*

Steak and pepper served in the MEL J lounge tonight :D

Thanks! Looking forward to my travel again this weekend. I wonder if I should visit the lounge tomorrow night just in case they are serving pies tomorrow night!
