Yesterday, VH-TJX took its last QF operational flight as QF815 from CBR to MEL arriving 7 minutes late at 4:17pm.

The final operational 734 flight was operated by VH-TJS as QF819 arriving from CBR into MEL 2 minutes early at 6:18pm.

"Stawell" was the name for TJX which first flew in February 1996

TJS was named "Jabiru" and first flew in March 1993 so was nearly 21 years old.

There's 39 years off the total fleet age.

Welcome back! Was it a full flight and any special acknowledgment?

Thanks AIRwin, yes, it was a fairly full flight. There were quite a few announcements before, during and after the flight re the significance.

As well as all the usual info on my boarding pass was this message below my frequent flyer details:

"End of an era for Qantas 737-400 series. Final flight of VH-TJS QF819"

I thought it was a very nice touch.

At the end of the usual "Welcome to Melbourne..." announcement on landing, there was a very long and loud round of applause from the passengers.

The 2 water cannon salute vertisol saw when we were leaving CBR was great. We got another 2 water cannon salute when we got to MEL as well. Both were quite spectacular.

That sounds pretty special! Wish everything had gone to plan or that I could have afforded the flights :(
