As a number of us are intending to be in Sydney for a rail trip [ (http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/com...ents/nov-14th-rail-carriage-sydney-24020.html) ], I thought it would be worthwhile organising a dinner/drinks for those in Sydney on the Saturday night. Rather than pollute that thread with such frivolity, I thought it best to start a new thread.

Could I have a show of hands for those interested (and suggestions for venues)?

I'm thinking somewhere around Darling Harbour, but open to all suggestions

I loved the Mongolian BBQ we had at the SYD Gathering - reasonable value. I would however put my hand up if DIN TAI FUNG at world square if it was mentioned :)

Im happy as long as its not too expensive. BTW, DIN TAI FUNG is next door to Rydges where we can have pre drinks or post drinks @ 50% off.

I might even stay there...

I'm in for the dinner, though I won't be attending the rail thingee.

My preference is to try something different to the mongolian place ;)

It must be an AFF "transport" weekend, a number are also heading to LRE.

I'm interested in finally meeting some of the prolific posters on here :)

My suggestion would be Hurricane's at Harbour City in Darling Harbour - a nice thick, juicey steak on the terrace overlooking the city is always a great night.

I'd second DIN TAI FUNG, went there a while back and the dumplings were amazing. and well priced indeed.

I would love to attend drinks but I think I will give it a miss at this stage.

We have a 5:00am bus trip to Blackheath the next day and I will need to be up before 4:00am.

I'm a scratchie as I won't be in town, but if I had a vote, I'd say Hurricanes; the sauteed mushroom entree & a full rack of pork ribs will do for me thanks

So I've been thinking of an excuse to not get up at 5:00am to take a 6:45am flight up to SYD on a Sunday for the rail trip.

I think I'll fly up on the Saturday instead at a much more sociable 10am and spend the night.

So count me in. Hurricanes sounds good, but I've also been known to eat a dumpling or two as well. Hurricanes does look to have a wider beverage selection :)

Count me in, but if notzac is coming (are you coming?) something with a vegetarian option may be nice for such non-meat eaters:)
