Well we are coming over from Perth so it was 144,000 points and here we come.
Nick's sounds great so it should be a fun night.
Can we take wine into a licensed restaurant in Sydney or is this a strict No No?

You can usually take bottled wine into licensed restaurants - but be prepared to pay corkage. I think the highest I have seen was $30 per bottle so I don't unless it's something amazing that the restaurant doesn't have.

For those who are staying in the city - I think I've found out why hotel availability has been "limited"...

There's a Metallica concert on at the Acer Arena. Given that it holds > 21,000 people when in a concert configuration that's a lot of hotel rooms.

I'm glad I booked my room back in September, because the unrestricted "executive club room" rate I got is about 40% less than the restricted/prepaid standard room rates that have been available over the past few weeks

Nick's Seafood Restaurant from 7.. remember there are 3 Nick's restaurants, this is the one on coughle Bay Wharf (Darling Harbour).

I get in at 11am and will probably just meander around the city for a while (or might go across on the Manly ferry for something different) so I can certainly join in for pre-dinner drinks.

There are plenty of venues around for casual drinks. James Squire is one of my favourites for casual drinks - but it's on King Street Wharf (a casual ~10 minute stroll along the harbour). Pontoon Bar is probably the closest venue to the actual restaurant.

Pontoon is fine before ~8:30pm from experience. Your restaurant will be fine of course.
