On another note...

I hear there is a new menu coming out on the 11th.

Wow, is this going to happen every couple of months to keep the menu options 'fresh' and new?

Or is this another further step in the rebrand i.e.. fully inclusive food in discount economy like V Australia? I think it was mentioned by JB that they wanted to move the whole brand to be like V australia, a vibrant full service airline without the price tag.

I think this is an excellent development, rotating/adding to the onboard menu. Frankly, the one thing that is lacking with VA now is the onboard menu for food items. The booze is great, love the G&Ts. But the main meals are IMHO somewhat lacking. The panini is a whole lot of bread with a little meat/vegs inbetween, and the noodle salad is lots of noodles and little flavour. The wrap is mostly wrap and not nearly as good as the many e-coli wraps I consumed in years gone by. The snacks are OK - love the little flatbreads - but we need better main meals. I don't want my Friday night heading home meal to be pringles, flatbreads and G&Ts.

This is coming from a very loyal and happy VA flyer.

Way to go VA. Nicely done.

1 ground staff
1 BP scanner
2 boarding lanes.

Ms PG / SWMBO was very impressed with the Adl and Syd DJ check-in, lounges, boarding, exit row seating, FAs, aircraft and the flights.
Well done DJ, you saved my bacon. :D

^^^ I am very impressed with the design of the gates. One thing is missing however, flowers!

No matter how many times I read this. I don't get the headline....

This was taken just outside the bathroom at the BNE lounge. Taking photos here didn't quite feel right...

Edit: I get what they are saying now... I must be very tired today.

I can also make out a strange looking man holding up a object of some description ;)

I thought the same Liam when I first saw it lol, I was like oh, wait what?

Completely random question,

I remember when the MEL lounge opened, Virgin were spruking places to charge your iPhone using those 'non-contact mats' things. Whereby you can charge your phone by sitting it on charging pads. I think they were made by Duracell.

Does anybody know where they went? I have been in the lounge multiple times since then and haven't seen them anywhere!

Am I just not looking hard enough, or have they gone? Virgin Australia, do you know?

And a completely random reply ;)

It (I don't think they is the correct word) was sitting at the computers in SYD last time I was there. I did use it, but thought it was a problematic exercise as first you have to borrow a charging case from the Angels (leaving your drivers license as security), then you have to sit close by watching it like a hawk to ensure no one "acquires" both phone and charging case!! All in all, I wouldn't be surprised if this is chalked down to a failed experiement, but I have to say, it is a good service to those of us who occasionally forget to pack the phone charger .

I'm in MEL on Sunday, so I'll have a look then.

In Brisbane, I think it's now available at the service desk, and your phone stays there for charging. Saw one of the staffers fiddling around trying to get the right adaptor for someones phone.

For the #AVGeeks out there (Aviation Geeks)...

The ATR just did a circuit flying around Sydney, it'll be doing a test SYD-CBR flight tonight, departing at 1800.

This looks like the best place to have a rant, so gather round kids for Liam's rant of the day!!

Was booked on DJ543, the 1910 service to the Gold Coast.

Arrived around 1730 at the Premium Entry with a close friend of mine, we haven't seen each other in months, so were looking forward to catching up. OLCI and received 3C I just needed to grab a boarding pass.

"Oh, Mr Rasmussen, your flight has been cancelled. *Starts typing on the computer*"

*Gasp* Ohh noo! I didn't really care, after all there was probable 3 or 4 flights after mine. "When Was this flight cancelled"

"About Three hours ago I think"

Can I just jump on the flight after 543?

"Sorry, they are all fully booked, you'll have to leave right now, *Printed boarding pass* Here - run to the gate, it's boarding."

These things happen in travel, so as much as I'd hate to miss out on catching up with a best friend. I better go.

Run to the gate to find it's been delayed (of course, this was gate 38, right up the end) so head back to the lounge for 20mins to chat for a bit (A bit like the 30 second conversations Misha have when we both are running to our gates on Fridays)

Oh what's this? VirginAustralia.com is still selling seats for afternoon flights? At least 20 seats are available? Oh, and so is expert flyer?

On top of this, I was given a bad seat. #FirstWorldProblem I know.

But, my point is this...

If the flight was cancelled three hours ago why didn't I get a call? If I had done OLCI there was no reason for me to speak to anybody until I rocked up at the airport and headed to the boarding gate. Surely that is one of the responsibilities of the Customer Service Team?

Why wasn't I put on a later flight? There was certainly availability.

If I didn't turn up 2hrs early, how was I suppose to know about getting on the earlier flight? If I missed it, what would they have done?

Is this how Platinums are meant to be treated?

I'm the first to praise Virgin, but I'll also be the first to stand up when they screw things up.

On the plus side....

The staff guarded that priority boarding queue like naz_s! :D
(In fact, the people in the queue were guarding it just as much!)

I got to try the Luke M Party Pies

Liam managed to perfect the ability to run to a gate with carry on while still looking stylish.

Sorry also to Ewing who came down to the airport to say Hi, only to get a brief 2min chat. (Although, I think he may also have came for the free champaign.)

*Successfully emptyied steam out of head*

But you still have not got your PLAT package Liam, reading between the lines that your real vent LOL. They are worth waiting for, especially compared to the requalified QF package for WPs these days, a letter In the guise of a marketing piece with a card stuck to it.
