Now You're Flying Virgin Australia

I do like the minimalist design though.

I was quite surprised to find there was no 'Member Since' option.

It means that men in suits can't scream at the check-in agent "LOOK AT THIS CARD, I'VE BEEN A MEMBER SINCE 1900,THAT'S BEFORE FLYING WAS EVEN INVENTED, WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN'T GET ME IN 3C. "

Smart thinking? :D

I doubt they would have gone to the trouble of doing that, since the relaunch is just weeks away, and they will have to send out brand new shiny proper cards ;)

Also makes me wonder why they would have gone to the trouble of issuing requals on this different design, if theyre only going to change it in all of 3 weeks.

For red and possibly even silver I can understand, but for gold?!
Maybe its just me being as sensitive to stimuli as a 2 year old, but i much prefer raised lettering, or wasn't that obvious enough?

They have had the new logo since May, and they needed to change it for the new font they use.

Bumpy lettering is so 10 years ago, sorry - just putting it out there!

I agree - The silver that they coat the letters in rubs off after a month or two, making it impossible to read.

Yes, they are in Pacific Blue colours but are operated by Virgin. It is just to promote them. As you might have seen they have "Airline of Virgin Blue" titles on some aircraft, this is part of the re-branding, these and along with all pacific blue planes will be painted in the new livery soon.

Cheers

They've had "airline of virgin blue" on them for years, at least well and truly before the change to VA, so that's not anything to do with rebranding at all. If it was changed to say "airline of virgin Australia" before they paint them completely, then you could say that was part of the rebranding.

Wow you must have joined really early on Liam as your membership number is "2"! ;)

I joined in 05 and mine starts with 21. I am not sure how it works though

Damn you iphone and fat fingers. Sent from my iphone and AFF app :))

I got my new Silver card the other week with the new design so mabye its just Red.

Well, you should get your facts right, The planes example VH-VUF was painted in VB colours for a year or 2. Then it got painted in Pacific Blue colours, but operated by Virgin Blue flights, and flights to Asia. And since early this year as part of the rebranding, the Pacific Blue planes have had there title flypacificblue.com removed, now it just has a red fusulage, and pacific blue on the tail, with Airline of Virgin Blue on the side. Do i need physical evidence? Well here you go: So net time dont think you know everything, i dont put ma=essages on hear that are complete cough, only rumours, opinions or actual facts. Have a good day.

Correct - it was not part of the rebranding.

Indonesian flights used the aircraft that had 'Airline of Virgin Blue' on them. There was some sort of regulatory reason for this.

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Your first post said "Yes, they are in Pacific Blue colours but are operated by Virgin. It is just to promote them. You cannot claim that the wording "Airline of Virgin Blue" is part of re-branding, when it has been on aircraft for years. Even if there have been aircraft with this painted more recently, that is not rebranding. Rebranding is the CHANGE OF NAME to Virgin Australia. The re-painting of aircraft with "Virgin Australia" on it is re-branding. Writing the old name of the airline on the side of the plane is not rebranding! I don't need to work for VA, or even know anything about the airline to work that out.

I find it ironic that you suggest I'm writing "complete cough" - maybe go back and look at most of your posts and you see how many people have disputed things you've said, that you claim are facts, but in many cases are just plain wrong or simply an opinion that you attempt to present as a "fact". VA joining Star Alliance is just one of those...

Opinions I don't have a problem with, and nor should you, as that is what this site is about. But my post you have attacked was not an opinion, that was a fact. Mark has agreed with me on this, as I'm sure others will as well.

Well excuse me, airline of virgin blue for pacific blue has always been around, but we are talking about physically on pacific blue aircraft here. If you have been listening, Pacific Blue will become Virgin Australia on January 1st 2012. So those planes have been re-painted with Airline of Virgin Blue titles. If i need further evidence here you go: VB/PB livery rebranding starts. - Sydney Airport Message Board
As the thread clearly says "VB/PB livery re branding starts." If this was not re branding why would they do this? Maybe because they have no clue, some have even asked what is the difference between an Embraer and an 737, which is worrying. Im sure you should check out other sites. and this clear RE BRANDING for PB to become VA next year.

Perhaps we can go a little easier on the vitriolic language?

Be a DJ Fanboy or a QF Fanboy, that still stands.

Everyone here (I'll say that as 99.9% will suffice for 'everyone' in this instance) knows about Virgin Blue re-branding.

YSSY Message borad is *not* here. They are plane spotters. There's also a lot of new plane spotters eager to learn (I was once one of them; I still haunt the YSSY board from time-to-time as it's what got me hooked on planes/airports and lead me to here) and asking questions is the best way to learn. Spitting acid at them and scoffing "pfft you should know better" is not going to win anyone friends.

I suggest a cup of tea, a bex, and we all have a good lie down (If you don't know what a bex is, google it; i'm not that old but it's a saying that I inherited from my parents).

I do prefer Virgin over Qantas, but i am not a Fanboy or a troll. Plane spotters, and several of them have been there for quite a while and they all have evidence to prove what they are saying, they know what they are talking about unlike some here. (Planes and paint etc). I'm just trying to say that he is wrong, i have said what needs to be said, backed it up with evidence and it stops there. Cheers

Congratulations. You can do a google search and find a picture of a plane. Well done. And what does that prove, seeing you're banging on about evidence? That no other plane before that one had anything on it that said "Airline of Virgin Blue"? What a laugh.

There have been planes and material that have said "Airline of Virgin Blue" for a long time. Maybe not in the big white font, but it was there in one form or another. Besides that, as I already said, just because a couple of planes might have that painted on there recently doesn't make it a rebranding exercise. Do you have marketing qualifications and actually understand what a rebranding exercise is? Maybe it's a communication issue and what you are thinking in your head doesn't match what you are actually typing.

Maybe do a quick google search for "Pacific Blue" and see what it brings up. I can assure you it's not Virgin Blue...

By the way, you do realise that once you start making accusations, shouting and calling names, then you've already lost the argument? I guess you'll still want to have the last word though...

Dont v australia aircraft have something similar on them somewhere?
