+1. Anyone know where this is or is going to be?
If your taking guesses, mine would be a CAD image for Melbourne.

Imagine... the entry corridor being extended, and the front desk (currently located somewhere to the left of the closest female passenger in the picture) becoming a wall... and the new front desk located right back against the window where, the cafe seating use to be. Thus providing access to the lounge on the far left of screen, and access to a premium security channel on the far right (where the PCs are currently located) ?

I can see that. Will be impressive if they make that work. So you are assuming a premium security line running direct from the lounge into the main pier at MEL? I am not really sure how that would work with running it behind the restaurant and the shops there?

Anyone been to MEL lately and seen any sign of this?

If not, then the only other guess is Brisbane, same concept with the corridor just being extended right back (and the front desk going backwards with it). Then enter the lounge on the far left, along the current window line.

And even on the new VA site, it's still showing "Virgin Blue" as the operator of the domestic flights in the "Arrivals and Departures" area of the web site.

So when I fly home this week, will I be travelling on a Virgin Blue flight or a Virgin Australia flight???

Website changes will continue to be made over the next few days.
As both John and CrazyDave have mentioned (sounds strange to put those two names in the same sentence!) it will be a long period of time before the entire fleet is completely Virgin Australia branded. But now that the name is out (officially) hopefully we can bring you more info as each plane goes in.... and comes out shiny and new!

YouTube - Emirates A330 economy
Theyre looking identical to those of the Emirates aircraft if you ask me, not sure if its the same system though. More likely than not however we've got a channeled IFE rather than an on demand system as was the case with the EK aircraft?

From the VA website:
"Entertainment

Your Business Class seat comes with a large 10.6 inch in-seat screen showing a multi-channel range of Movie and TV content. You will also have access to a range of audio channels. You can enjoy your vast selection of entertainment with comfortable, noise cancelling headsets."

If anything though im VERY pleased to see the remote making an appearance. Nothing annoys me more than somebody prodding the back of your seat for hours at a time!

Content on the entertainment system will be refreshed monthly.

Ok, saw the tv ad on YouTube, cool. Just watched the same ad on my mega incher Samsung LCD (channel 10) and it's bloody impressive (the ad that is)! The ad hit all my 'happy emotional buttons' and I immediately wanted to book a ticket and fly with them but the only place I feel like going right now is to bed. It's been a big day for Virgin and I'm exhausted too. Its been months in the making. Goodnight people

Sorry I have not read the whole thread as there were way too many hugs and kisses for my liking but did I miss the most important announcement? What changes have they made to Velocity? Or is this going to be another long drawn out wait only to be disappointed again?

Ok fair point but take me as an example, there is a possibility I may have to travel to Sydney next week for a meeting,so this morning I did some research on fares,my options are QF at $116 with FF points and refreshments (Yes I know it's only coffee and a biscuit) plus baggage allowance included or DJ at $108.00 plus $12.00 for baggage=$120.00.,why would I choose DJ over QF in that situation when DJ isn't cheaper?
You are not allowed to even suggest that QF can possibly be cheaper than DJ when factoring luggage into the equation as everyone in Australia has Velocity Gold or Silver status which has luggage included and they can spend their money on other things.

You realise we do hotel package deals too right? ;)
Just like Qantas Holidays? I hope not as Qantas Holidays discriminates against singles by selling hotel packages on a twin-share basis.

Well good news, DJ/VAA is cheaper than Qantas on ADL-SYD by at least $20 even when factoring in luggage. :p

Can't help but draw comparisons with the Delta 'Atlanta Anthem' relaunch ad a few years ago...the new ad gives that sense of VA redesigning the airline from the ground up. What a great commercial. The livery is also strangely reminiscent of the old Silverjet 767s....so wonderfully understated!

It looks like it could be the new lounge at Brisbane
Gonna agree with this, image through the glass looks like an attempt to render a transluscent view of overlooking the entry/check-in area of BNE. If so, hells yes.

Flew Virgin Australia this afternoon, Mel/Syd. Flight over 30mins late leaving, had status "flight closed" on screens before boarding commenced. No announcements re VA launch today, think it was still a Virgin Blue flight, (thought they may at least announce it or even hand something out to each passenger as a momento of the relaunch).

No communication from pilot at all through whole flight - such as update on arrival. Landed 35mins late, no apology re time (although live2air free).

Please make sure basics are right, even with the excitement of the relaunch..:-|

Interestingly SRB and JB were on lateline business tonight and JB openly admitted DJ really needs to pick up their OTD and OTA which has been lagging QF significantly.

He mentioned some new operations guy who has rejigged their processes to improve this - from this month - so thats good news.... Didn't go into much detail...

SRB was a waste of space, wish they'd keep him locked up, he just makes ridiculous stupid and exaggerated statements.... But JB put in a reasonable performance which was good :)

PS the economy AVOD system looks like it's about 10 years old with the old remote control, hopefully it works better than a 10 year old system ;)
Just like Qantas Holidays? I hope not as Qantas Holidays discriminates against singles by selling hotel packages on a twin-share basis.
Having previously worked in the industry for many years, it's standard practice for holiday companies to advertised prices based on a twin share. It's not intended to discriminate but rather make the price appear 'better value' and besides, most who elect to view hotel rates through holiday operators (as appose to corporate hotel rates) are genuinely traveling as leisure travellers and less as a single corporate traveller like yourself.

Virgin America vs Virgin Australia: spot the differences! #ne... on Twitpic

Having recently been very impressed by VX and wishing that DJ was more like VX, my prayers have been answered. Now let's hope reality matches hype, and fundamentals such as OTA, OTD, ground handling aren't overlooked.

Have booked a few upcoming domestic trips on Virgin Australia, though it'd be too soon to discern any changes from the old DJ (I think I get the new Luke Mangan designer menus). Whilst I'd probably wait till the Velocity relaunch before deciding whether to jump ship for good, I look forward to checking out the competition for a change. Any chance for the new planes to be deployed on MEL-ADL or MEL-PER? ;)

3 cheers yet again to Virgin Australia on the re-branding and massive effort to inject competition into the Australian air travel industry - it brings some sexy back!
