The location for the fifth annual Asian lounge crawl has been chosen - Narita (NRT).

This is a little further afield than the last few, however as we have been to SIN and HKG twice and KUL once it is time for a change.

This may present a few complications for some as QF no longer fly SYD-NRT, or more importantly no longer fly NRT-SYD. For others it may well be a case of 'welcome to my world'.

So when choosing your (OneWorld) flight out of NRT, make sure it actually is NRT and not HND as some booking engines will present both.

Here are the previous lounge crawls:

SIN lounge crawl 24 Aug 2013
HKG lounge crawl 8 June 2014
KUL SIN lounge crawl 7 June 2015
HKG lounge crawl 12 June 2016

So when choosing your (One World) flight out of NRT, make sure it actually is NRT and not HND.
And just in case... make sure it's NRT international. Domestic wouldn't quite work. And in the international side of things, there are 2 terminals but OW departures are all in T2 so you won't have to worry about it too much.

Although as for departures, I'm assuming most would be taking QF62? Not sure if there are many (or any) other OW departures around that time. BA/AY are lunch time departures. Latest CX departure is at 1835. MH has only a morning flight to KUL. So if I'm not mistaken, QF62 and some JAL flights are pretty much the only realistic options we have.

NRT is too far away from SYD/BNE to make this a quick trip and also not sure how regularly the current routes are discounted. Also my current little project looks like developing into a bigger project by then so could be difficult getting time away.

In saying that never say never and always a chance I could still attend. Please mark me down as Silver.

This is a destination I'm always excited about. Now I just need another QF mistake fare to seal the deal ;)

Lounges:

AA
CX
JL J
JL F
QF

EK (if flying QF)

Just be aware the CX lounge closes at 18:00, so if you're flying on the evening QF NRT-BNE you might not get much time in the CX lounge unless you can webcheckin and access using that earlier than the T-3 usual checkin time.

All the other lounges are open til at least 21:00 or longer.

I am silver for this event, with confirmation early next year. Hope I can make this one this time! :)

Yes, it looks like the crawl may have to start early to accommodate a range of flights .:( ;) Other possibilities

JL707 NRT-BKK 18:20
JL8 NRT-BOS 18:10
JL60 NRT DFW 18:30
QR807 NRT-DOH 22:30
CX505 NRT-HKG 18:35
JL4NRT-JFK 18:15
JL771 NRT - SYD 19:25
JL18 NRT-YVR 18:20

Make me silver, please.

Please colour me gold as well.
Over the years I've been to all but the CX lounge in NRT but I'm keen to attend my second Asian lounge crawl ;).

Per the Qantas website Narita lounge is open 0830 to 2130
Lounge Locations | Japan | Tokyo Narita International Airport | International Business

But I don't think checkin opens until 3hrs before your flight, and the Japanese are sticklers for the rules.

I flew from NRT-BNE this year and there was zero flexibility for checking in early. Absolutely none. Myself and a fair few others waited in a queue for check in to open (I was there about 3hr30min before boarding)

As others have said, unfortunately you won't be able to check-in your bag until 3hrs before you next flight so take your time transiting across from HND. I did this connection last Sunday morning and had to wait at the BA check-in for 2hrs until they opened. Then I went through to the pretty good (but crowded initially) JAL Flounge

Is there a secret way to checkin at NRT more than 3 hours before a flight?

I took a guess, but hopefully you can make it. :)

I am probably out.

I have flown ex-NRT more than enough, and the lounges don't really excite me. Given I will be there in April for a do, I doubt I will return in June to just visit the airport.
