Planning a trip next September for myself and the wife. Will probably fly into LHR but maybe AMS or CDG. I've done the A380 in biz a few times, but not the 777 on SA or the A350 at all. There are more flight options for the 777 and A350, but I've alway like the A380, no matter which airline I fly. Do these other aircraft have a lesser general experience, seating, IFE, etc?

Note that whichever flight you book now, for travel next year, there is a very good chance that the aircraft type showing today will change at least once before you board.

book what suits in terms of connections etc.

as above, aircraft will likely change.
currently they are using the short haul A350 from Sydney which has narrow seats in J compared to the long haul A350, probably because they are day flights and they can carry more pax overall

I'm also looking at September 2023 to ZRH or AMS. How can you tell which is the short haul A350 and which is the long haul?

B77W fleet may be older?

There are seat layout pics in the SQ tales thread in the last 5-8 pages, from memory

SIN to ZRH or AMS is not a short haul A350. From memory SQ considers any flight shorter than around 6.5-7 hours as regional flight I maybe wrong however ADL-SIN or return has a flight time of 6:45 hours and IME it has always been a regional jet. This is one of the reasons I choose to depart MEL or SYD on a better aircraft seat.

Makes sense. Living in Hobart we have always departed o'seas from MEL or SYD.
