[Offer Closed]: Citibank Gold NO ANNUAL FEE FOR LIFE

It seems the link in #474 is the only one that still works, half working to be exact. You can go all the way to submit application, then the processing screen comes up which basically says wait 60 seconds for a response, shortly followed by the system error message.

Maybe they withdrew the offer, or maybe it really is a system error (perhaps online credit rating is unavailable). If you have time just keep trying until they completely take it down.

what exactly is happening during the 60s? what do they check? where do they check?

Not sure, possibly checking the applicant's credit rating. They must have a connection to the credit bureau(s), it's likely that they send over essential info such as name, dob, address, and licence number, then receive a response highlighting the applicant's financial profile and make a quick decision from there. Ideally, all that should happen in 60 seconds, and if it's a go then they will verify the applicant's employment and income etc to set the credit limit. Just guessing though, but should not be too far off.

Looks the the online application is driven by offer codes, the links through out this thread point to different pages outlining the details of a particular offer, but eventually they arrive at the same application page, it's the unique offer codes that set them apart. Most offer codes are expired or so it seems, so they error out right at the beginning (i.e. the cannot process request message). But #474 actually works all the way until the very last step, so may be worth keep trying.

I would certainly think that during the 60 seconds it is checking things like your credit file and so on, and scoring based on the information that it has. Would likely come back with three answers - Yes, maybe and no :)

Still getting a " Due to a system error, we are unable to process your application. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you. Please try to submit your application later."

Anyone had success?

Had my citibank gold visa capped yesterday at 60000 points:mad: so I'm in need of a new card soon. Yes I was paying the $119. at this stage I'll be upgrading to plat but reluctant due to the cost. Any further updates about this offer would be appreciated:)

still failing, called them up and they said it's no longer avail.
they tried to sell me the silver - still with no fee free, of course I told them what I thought about that...

I believe National and ANZ also have equivalent packages, but I don't know what cards they include.

Thanks guys, the best one I've found so far is the Qantas AE card, $0 annual fee for life, 55 interest free days, 1 FF point per dollar plus 5000 bonus points after first use. Is there any visa card simiar to that atm?

My Citi platinum is due for renewal in Sep and no way I'll pay the $250 annual fee.

Yes, that was a very decent offer. Is it still available? When I click the original link it doesn't seem to work anymore.

do you think they will offer me that with fee free? i don't really need the platinum card as long as no annual fee, 1 FF point per dollar, 55 or 44 interest free days and it's visa.

anyone got that offer from Citi when they cancelled their plat?

Depending on your spend, you could consider a downgrade to the gold card.

I have always had the anz gold card as part of my package but when i asked abour ff points it was suggested to me that i might be better with the plat card as it has insurance and direct points to qff even if the points per month were low

I am not sure if they would give you a fee free card, but it is cheaper than a platinum card. I am not sure you will find a card to match your criteria.
