Offer to retain IHG diamond ambassador for 2024

I've just booked my hotel stay for the last weekend in January to use my free night. I'm not going to renew if they don't renew Diamond so I'll see if the hotel offer me a sweetener while I'm there.

I soft dropped from platinum to gold March last year so must believe diamond goes to platinum.
Went quickly back to platinum when got ambassador for 2nd time as had some IC stays coming up and used free weekend night making it worth the purchase.
Ambassador has been with IHG platinum complimentary for at least a few years.
I first earned platinum 5 years ago when it was much easier and apart from a couple of months (COVID extensions assisted.) I have kept it since whilst being nowhere near targets required each year.
I still have VFF platinum status which would give me IHG platinum (if I don't need the IC ambassador staus) up my sleeve.

Does anyone know if renewing Ambassador at hotel would still get me the 15k bonus points?

Still have the Diamond expiry for end of 2024, trying to do one last bit of luck this week to renew it at a hotel and see if that gets extended to 2025.

Is it normal when booking the Ambassador free night for the booking and receipt to show the cost for two nights?

It appears to show the Ambassador free night has been applied, but then shows charges for both nights?

Total is well above the $452 quoted on the previous screen.

Yes, it is usually fixed by the hotel prior to check-in (once they validate you actually have a certificate, etc)

Well I just soft landed to IHG Platinum, didnt stay enough nights to requalify for Diamond and didnt pay for points to keep it as no definitive plans yet to benefit this year.

Happy I didnt go back to non status.

I don’t stay enough nights but I did renew AMB in Nov. My account is still saying “Diamond” expiring 31 Dec 23.

I also received and email o/n reminding me about a 15% off award nights thanks to Diamond status…

I never bought Ambassador as rarely stay at an IC and right now have no forward bookings. The email about my new status came today, so clearly they weren't on the bench re my status, you may get lucky still.

Also had a soft drop to Platinum. I didn’t receive any reminders to renew Ambassador membership. At this stage I only have 1 Intercontinental booking coming up, so will stay on Platinum for now.

Mine says under review, I'm AMB/Diamond and requalified so I'm not expecting any change. OH's account is non-AMB and also says Platinum under review (also requalified, so again, not expecting a chance, but the review thing seems normal at the moment).

In fact, now that we can transfer points out for free, OH has cleared her account into mine (since they may as well go on Diamond/AMB redemptions), so that was a well timed benefit!

Unfortunate timing for the downgrade as I have a stay tonight that I can no longer request breakfast on. Fortunately I still have my annual lounge membership, so I'll have to pay more attention to whether the hotel has a lounge available in future

Same here. Well, was good while it lasted. Hopefully they will do a targeted status boost promo for people using corporate booking codes again... But expect it will be a bit more tightly policed this time.

Anyway, my spend now goes over to Hilton where diamond has stuck from a status challenge last year.

Also Platinum but I have stay in a couple of weeks to use up my Ambassador - it will be interesting to ask me if I want to extend my Ambassador and I'll say only if you make me Diamond. I don't have many points left and Hilton extended my Diamond for a year even though I didn't qualify so I'll stick with them

I proactively asked them this over chat last year, saying exactly the same (that i am also Hilton gold and will go there for all my stays instead). They declined and reinforced that past examples of this occurring were a system error.
