OLCI not working for flight to SYD and then PQQ

Posting for my parents, who are flying MEL-SYD and then SYD-PQQ tomorrow. It's less than 24 hours before the first leg, but this is what they get when attempting to use OLCI:

We are unable to check you in

Unfortunately, we are unable to check you in at this time. Web
Check-in is available from 24 hours up to 40 minutes before your
departure time, please re-try later or alternatively proceed to the
airport to complete check-in.

Any ideas what the issue might be? (I've tried it myself with the booking code (which I'm obviously not going to post here), and it's not working for me either; I checked both Chrome and Firefox on Mac OS X.)

No, the SYD-PQQ one isn't.

So, you would suggest trying to check in after that flight is within the window? (BTW, this seems strange to me. With other airlines I've been able to check into the first of a number of connecting flights when it was the only one within the 24 hour window.)

Well, that's bizarre: it worked at 14:40. The SYD-PQQ flight is 16:10-17:10, so it's not within the 24 hour window.

Anyway, everything's sorted now, so thanks for the help.

I can usually check in at about the 26 hour mark
