Oman Air seats now showing up as QF Classic Rewards

Hmmm... the Qantas search tools (both normal and multi-city) are not coping well with WY.

There's a glitch in that they're showing as no availability, even though the awards do show in the normal view (but not in multi-city, annoyingly).

Interesting that Business Studio (i.e. First) redemptions will come online as well, early next year.
That’s very good. I noticed they changed it from First to Business studio too similar to what MH and others have done.
Will be interesting to see if the MCT F lounge is accessible for OWE’s or it remains the same strict sanctuary for F passengers which is a big complaint from my cousin who has too elite status with WY and can’t enter the F lounge

Can stitch together LHR - MCT - CGK - SYD for 176,200 points and about 600 GBP.

Does involve a whole day in Oman (flight arrives at 7am and leaves at 2am the next day!) but there's a few big name 5* hotels in Muscat which are 250-300 AUD. Also about 5hrs between flights in Jakarta. CGK - SYD on QF of course.

Not at all ideal but given there's so few opportunities to Europe on QFF...

If you're entering it on the multi city tool, flight 2 is two days after flight 1 (due to the long gap) and flight 3 is the same day as flight 2.

Either a lot of WY award inventory has been snapped up in the past week, or the QF website is struggling a bit. I've been keen to go to Oman for ages and spotted heaps of availability ex MNL next April (where I already had some flights ex SYD bookended with view to buying a cheap cash fare to Europe).

Multiple J seats were showing on multiple days MNL-MCT-MNL last week. It's very scant now. What makes me think that it might be a QF issue is that AC still has good availability on the dates I was looking at. Aeroplan points are on sale atm, so I might just go with that option...

I hope Oman Air didn't get overwhelmed by an unexpectedly high number of QFF members booking up all their reward seats, prompting them to restrict QF's access...

False alarm. It was the QF website being temperamental. Multi city searches weren't showing the flights I saw the other day. However, plugging return dates into the front page booking engine still brings up results, but on the results page there's a new (to me anyway) drop down menu which defaults to only showing Y availability. J seats are still there, just a few more clicks to find them.

Is that the same issue as mentioned at post #22?

I don't think there's much fear of that. AFF and other saavy travellers might take advantage of this, but until WY flies to Australia, the majority of the flying public won't even consider it.

Heck i wonder if most people even realise where Oman is.

Considering WY for EU trip bext year.

Has anyone flown both RJ and WY and can compare for me? I have been on RJ J for a couple of short hauls (sub 4 hours) and wasn't overly impressed, not terrible but not great (Tired fit-out, lackadaisical FA). Obviously a bit spoiled with QR before and after.

WY absolutely kills RJ IMO.
WY has one of the best J products I’ve been on.
Would choose them everyday over RJ.
Hard product miles better, food better, staff better. Lounge at MCT is great and Muscat is a much better stopover destination IMO

Thanks. Not tempted to use RJ again ( unless only CR option ) and not having tried WY is why I asked, was a bit hesitant in case they were much of a muchness.

Had a couple of not so great experiences on EK and tend to avoid them as well.

WY have been absolutely amazing everytime I’ve flown with them.
Their call centre and resolution process is horrendous though and makes QF look competent 🤣

Has anyone booked WY classic rewards and had it ticketed? I made bookings approximately 24h ago and no sign of tickets yet, though the bookings have held so far.

In contrast, I booked one of our WY legs with AC points and the ticket (014 stock) was in my inbox immediately. Sigh. Why is QF still such a mess with partner bookings after so many years?

Booked last night. No sign of e-tickets.

Did you enter APIS? DoB is essential for ticketing with partner awards. It usually doesn't get populated at time of booking....

Yep. Entered APIS soon after booking. And was able to retrieve WY PNR via entering the QF one into MH MMB (acronym overload!!).

So there is a reservation in Oman’s system which is useful for keeping an eye on to see if it drops due to ticketing delays. Maybe QF warned them as a new partner that they shouldn’t expect reservations to be ticketed in a timely manner 😂

I had not, have done so now, thank you for the information!
