You don't have to pre-order the degustation menu, although you can get them First hosts to note your preference.

When you check in in CBR, see if they have any departure cards (they may give some to you in CBR anyway) - you can save a few seconds by filling them in before you reach MEL International (and also some express cards) .

Great news! I'd call it karma! Enjoy the F lounge (up the escalator near Gate 9 by the way), as long as your flight is on time, hopefully you'll manage a quick brekky with champagne - a great start to a trip! And enjoy the F flight on the plane too.

Congrats on the upgrade. I was equally excited earlier in the year. Didn't even have time to poke my nose into Mel Flounge (on earliest flight BNE-MEL), but did get chance to post pics from the fist cabin using the glacially slow (free to 1st) satellite internt. And it's obligatory to wear Fluoro in the Flounge at least once.. (see here).

Hope you've enjoyed your flight/s! When I boarded my flight to SYD this morning they announced that the MEL flight was being delayed, and I remembered that you were on this flight. I hope it was only a small delay so you could make your next flight and maximize F lounge time!

Been upgraded to first SYD-LAX, degustation came with the upgrade... enjoy!

It was fabulous and sadly all over now. I could get very used to travelling F! Had the tasting menu, wore the delightful brown PJs, even got to spend half an hour in the MEL F lounge. Waiting in the Oneworld cave at LAX to get on QF107 to JFK.

Thanks to all for the advice, we got seats 4A and 5A and they were great. I was in 5A and it was so private. A bit of galley noise but that doesn't bother me.

I expect it's because it's a morning flight. I too found it disappointing, but there's enough on the menu to keep you happy.

Well that is true of any carrier. Once you fly in 1A, you don't go back. That said, of all the Firsts I have flown, I have found QF crew to be far too casual/familiar for my liking.
