On board recognition - who gets any?

a little gesture in return does no harm at all and can go a hell of a long way.

FFS. VA service is patchy enough without people like you trying to skew things. This is a pseudo-bribe and not a tip. Give it to the CSM at the end of the flight or not at all.

Just landed this morning on VA2, was in premium economy. One of the FAs towards the end came and talked to myself and one other, thanking us for our ongoing business and giving us express path cards. Also got a warm welcome when getting on the plane with a "Welcome back Mr. Neko, it will be a pleasure serving you again this evening" or something to that effect. Apart from that, just another routine flight but all the FAs were being pretty good and on the ball with service.

Essentially it's because they are a far better airline with far better crew.

Air NZ are far better run airline with better crew, their financial reports also back this up ;)
As a 5 year Gold Elite veteran with over 100 NZ flights and 275000km travelled I can assure you while the crew are pretty good, the reason the balance sheet is improving is they have made huge cuts to the product and their loyalty program.

My *Elite expires later this year and I am not mourning it.

V impressed with recognition on VA30 this morning - definitely knew I was Plat as mentioned in passing a few times - always referred to by name, but guess thats a J thing anyway.

Gotta say the service couldn't have been better - except they forgot to bring me my Ice Cream after dinner - maybe they thought i'd eaten enough ;)

Recognition.... I get Security welcoming me in ADL constantly.. Or just the "again" and rolling eyes.. VA lounge staff know me by name on sight, always cheerful greetings and check of seat allocations as i walk in. They move me forward if I'm anything more than 3 or 4 back.

Met a number of ADL/ BNE staff thru a CS I have become good friends with (met on a J class MEL-BNE flight last year) And keep bumping into a lot of them, Few meals and snacks here n there. ADL base has opened now and I get common faces and greetings from even more regular staff here now.
Priority Check in staff in ADL know me well and Im always moved into 3 or bumped to J (3 times this year so far).
I find when flying J class (Dom & Short haul DPS etc,) CS always use your name, and are very attentive.

I couldnt be happier after switching to them in OCT 2013. Hardly even a newspaper from the air dragons in qantas in years before that!
