On the road again

Its the history of the Airport and the old Bush Pilots Airways etc. The prop is all that remains from the old DC3 on the pole at the entrance to the airport for those who can remember that.
You were also looking at a very rare plane across the runway, Hector the Short Belfast is one of only 2 in the world out of an original 10 made. Regular CNS visitors have seen him abandoned for the last 20 years or so, but the new owner is fixing it up and plans to make it fly again...we shall see.

I’m going to end it here folks.
Nobody wants to see a picture of the local bus I am about to catch.
I want to thank everyone for the amazing response to what I thought was going to be a boring trip report.
I loved bringing it to you.
I should be home in an hour and my daughter made it safely to Weipa.
Really appreciate the responses.
This is why I love doing trip reports.
Until next time.
❤️

Always keen to join a JustinF trip.
Nothing like a road trip with your daughter 👧.
Takes me back to when I helped drive my daughter from Kalgoorlie to the Gold Coast.
That was years ago, now she has just had our first Grandson 👍

Maybe you can organise a catch-up with her at the Cooktown Cup later in the year. When we were there in Nov 2023 there were a lot of people from Weipa there & it is a great weekend Cooktown Races

Really enjoyed following along again

We’ll plan a trip up to Weipa itself at some stage.
i know there is not a lot there, but it’s something her mum and I want to do.

Thanks for the TR Justinf. Loved reading along. One question - has Cotton settled into her new place. She is a gorgeous looking cat and seemed to travel very well once she got over the first day or so.
And PS - glad to hear your daughter got to Weipa safely.

They are keeping Cotton separate for a while from the two resident dogs, who are apparently lovely big softies.
she’s a scaredy cat, but she has a step-sister, Cricket, who Connor brought up with him.
she is indeed a beautiful looking girl. And so sweet.
we just FaceTimed them and they gave a tour of the house. It looks good.
now just have to convince the wife to get a ragdoll kitten, or a Maine coon.

A trip report that has soul and isn't just another DYKWIA. This is what I call real travel writing. Thanks for sharing your travels!

Any idea why you can't go through security in tears? Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't get why they had a problem with that 6 year old. Was she cracking a terror-tantrum or just the 'snuffles'?

I beg to differ! :p :p

Very kind of you to say mate.
she was just upset about something and couldn’t stop crying, just a kid moment.
really ordinary by the one security staff member.

I loved every minute of your wonderful trip, what a great read and even greater writing style you have! And now … it is beer o’clock here at Kings Creek Station…
