One more RTW hurrah... oh whY not!

....

And with the very many F and J reports out there, it seems almost more trendy and fashionable to fly down the back. ;).....

Dear QF009, feel free to be more trendy and fashionable than me. In fact I insist. As I slum it up the front of the bus in my PJ's and French bubbles I will have that hollow pit in my stomach knowing that in J I will always be deeply unfashionable.

Great TR and no need to explain why you travel. I think people get IT round here.

Cheers folks. :)

Note i did say 'almost.' :p

In whY it'd seem a bit of a necessity. ;)
Plus I don't think everyone here travels to get s*it faced. :D

Sometimes I have taken a trip on a flimsy pretext. For instance, during a 10-day visit to Tokyo, I flew back to New York to go to the opera, and returned to Tokyo the next day. Did I have to do it? No. Did I enjoy it? YES!

This was a really enjoyable post QF009. Your trip has inspired me to plan a RTW trip for next year. Possibly including Sth America now that Qantas will fly to Argentina.
I am curious a little about your photography. You seem to snap a lot of strangers in your shots. Are you using an iPhone or something that is not so obvious that you are taking their photos?
Nice report and nice photos.... well done!

I'm most flattered that my incoherent ramblings, which some have deemed to be a language other than English :p, have inspired your RTW trip. I find RTWs hugely fun, both to organise and to travel on. :)

V indiscrete regular point and shoot camera. I'm just thick skinned. ;)

NB: I don't actually set out to snap strangers into my pics; they just happen to be in the way. :)

Me too! Hoping to do some sort of 48 hr marathon circle asia fare next year.
Looks fun!

And yes, great report QF009!

Thanks for the trip report - very entertaining.

Having completed 11 RTW's in 2006 (for business), i seemed to have missed the fun element, but after recharging with a few point to point trips recently - am looking forward to a couple of RTW's coming up.

I note (if i recall correctly) in the third pic in one of the first posts - melb lounge, the lady in white on the left did not appear terribly impressed at the photography shoot of which she was a star.

Or probably pissed off that her flight is delayed yet again.

The TR ended two or three pages back. What's happening now is the standing ovation and the curtain calls.

Magnificent effort. Especially with what seems like a huge intake of alcohol. I get merry just reading it!

An inspiration, but I really should be working on my own TR instead of reading this one. Thanks for the effort, the pictures, the fun.:D:D:D

Very nice trip report. Again! :) Have you got a trademark registered for the feet shot yet? ;)

I must have missed this thread while I was away in New Zealand and then Thailand last month.

Now that I have figured out how to post photos here is the sign i hope you obeyed in the Face bar shanghai.

I didn't notice that sign. Neither was I asked for any "special permit."

Perhaps they mistook me for a local.:mrgreen:

Good place for meeting other tourists as well as expats though.

Baby Face bar ? is a chain... but if you dont want to see locals in PVG try Zepata's :)
I am back in Shanghai during the Chinese New Year, so i wonder what will be happening then...

We were referring to Face Bar which is located in the Ruijin hotel complex:

Babyface is an entirely different bar in Xintiandi; it's a bit more uptempo but also pretty chilled and trendy. Also conveniently on the way to Friends of Dorothy places further down Huaihai Zhong Lu. ;)

I was told about Zepata's, but somehow never got around to it. It's also a Mexican resto I believe? Since you've recommended it, I'll check it out next time. :)

I especially like those Lan Kwai Fong-esque places like Abbey Rd. Yeah cheesy I know but great to meet other Aussies or Americans on the road and feels v homey after a long day in a strange environment.

Yep, its a resuarant, never tried the food though but i seem to remember looking at the menu thinking it was ok.
If your sick of the ex-pat type people them there is also some local clubs around within about 50m walk.
