Hi
Just wondering if anyone can tell us how we might go about purchasing a one time entry into Qantas lounge? Partner is a qantas ff but doesnt have enough layover normally to warrent the membership. Our main reason for wanting taccess lounge is we are flying to Nadi on the 2350 hrs flight, but would be hanging around Brisbane since 4pm that day so a shower and somewhere to charge kids dvd players etc relax a bit and have a coffee drink would make this long layover much more bearable.I actually upgraded this membership as it said you could receive the Qantas club membership cheaper (but after doing so i read it was for corporate memberships :( so not avail for us.
Anyway i know that when I traveled to the states I was able to buy a pass to access lounges etc judt for the day??
Thanks

Unfortunately Nelwade Qantas does not sell one-off access passes. There are single-use complimentary passes floating around (issued to Silver FF members once a year) that people here occasionally donate but to cobble together 8 would be mission impossible I think. These passes can sometimes be found for sale on e-bay but you need to be very careful you are getting the real thing and not the old and no longer valid 'members guest passes'. It would also be extremely difficult to find 8 eligible members here to guest 8 of you in on the same day.

You can get corporate membership via this site (I have done so in the past) but you're going to need at least 3 in your situation).

I'm unaware of any practical solution to your situation short of purchasing at least 3 'full' QC memberships but there are more creative minds on this site than mine.

Welcome to AFF Nelwade!

Unfortunately, Qantas do not sell one-time access passes to the lounge. They do offer complimentary access for someone when they reach Silver status, however these passes are only issued to them and not sold as an option.

You may find some on eBay, however these are often dubious. A lot of sellers will try and sell the old 'Guest Passes' from many years ago where Qantas Club members were not able to bring in guests without surrendering a pass (They got a certain amount per year of membership).

Your only real options are:

a) Try your luck on eBay (the invites you are looking for look something like this: http://imgc.classistatic.com/cps/blnc/120411/922r1/7277e93_20.jpeg
b) Try your luck at the Meetings and Social Events thread right here at AFF, where members post their travel plans and offer to guest people in (keep in mind that you'll need to find people who are travelling on the same flight as you, which will be tricky for so many people (see here: Meetings and Social Events and select the month you're travelling, you don't say when you are going).
c) Buy Qantas Club membership (if you join AFF as a Gold member for $50, you can join the Corporate Qantas Club Scheme, which will save you a substantial amount).

Your other option would be to possibly find a hotel near the airport, and just book a room to allow you to have a shower and relax up. If you have 3 children, this may be the better option (and certainly inexpensive compared to the other options; often the eBay auctions for Qantas Club Invites can go up to around the $50 mark).

*edit* tuapekastar appears to be reading my mind ;)

Without knowing more it's difficult to make a recommendation. Are you flying in from an international port or domestic ?
Driving from country town ?

There are credit cards that give QP invites away. HSBC Platinum (2) and Amex Qantas (is it premium?) (2).

OP has a four hour layover, connecting to an international flight so this would be international QP :)

I just thought of another way, but it's still not going to be cheap.

American Airlines recently started selling 30 day Admirals Club passes, with 'all the benefits of an annual membership' for $99USD.

If you have several upcoming trips, a 30-Day Membership has the same benefits as above PLUS all the great benefits of our annual members, but are limited to only a consecutive 30 day period.
  • 30-Day Pass charge is $99 per Visitor*
  • Within 30 days of the expiration of the 30 day membership, an annual membership may be purchased at the renewal rate based on current AAdvantage® tier level with applicable promotion code. If annual membership is purchased after the 30 day period, new annual membership rates apply.
  • 30 day memberships may be purchased online, in any of our Admirals Club lounges, or by calling Admirals Club Member Services at 800-237-7971.

Original page is at Admirals Club Passes (click on the '30 Day Membership' option at the bottom).

Not cheap, but it's also going to give you access for a full 30 days to any Qantas Club if you're travelling anywhere else within that time.

That is a large group of people to get into the club even for long standing members. Nadi isnt exactly a long flight from Brisbane and even when we travelled to the USA from Sydney we coped fine with just a refresh in the bathrooms (couldnt be bothered with having a shower) before a flight to Boston so really i dont think the cost is really worth it ..

EXCLUSIVE OFFER - Offer expires: 20 Feb 2025

- Earn up to 200,000 bonus Velocity Points*
- Enjoy unlimited complimentary access to Priority Pass lounges worldwide
- Earn up to 3 Citi reward Points per dollar uncapped

Not sure what you mean to saying "but after doing so i read it was for corporate memberships so not avail for us."

If you have signed up as a paid gold member to AFF, then you can buy your QC membership through AFF at the discounted rate. AFF get a discounted rate because it is the corporate rate: AFF being the "corporate organisation". I understand you save at least the $200 sign-up fee.

You'll find most of the Silver FF one-time QP passes they're issuing of late state "for domestic lounge use only" so this probably isn't an option as most of the old ones allowing international access would likely have expired already.

Really? Interesting! I guess that kills their value substantially (Another QF "enhancement" there!)

Thanks for the education ;)

I've got a new one at home, will double check...

I still have a pass from August last year that doesn't stipulate International/domestic, so I don't necessarily agree that most of those type have expired yet.

For a few flights I have had to spend some time at BNE international with no lounge access and it is tolerable. There are free public showers. The couches down in the central part are quite comfortable. Near gate 80 and the Coffee Club you can pick up the wifi signal from some of the lounges. There are a few power points scattered around the terminal.

I just checked my son's One time pass which he received last week (silver). It definitely states Access to both Domestic and International Business Lounge. And is valid for 12 months.

Thanks everyone.
Sorry i was on my phone and not all posted showed :/
we did join as a gold member to AFF but then realized we still had a $200 sign up fee plus yearly membership.
Although partner flies for work he is normally off first flight and straight to the next so its not worth it. I did see the American Airlines deal and wondered if we should go that way.
as for the trip we are training it to Bris bane as we couldnt get a decent flight from Bundy. I realize the flight To Nadi isnt to long its more the fact we will be hanging in Bris for so long with kids etc.

Arriving at 4pm then on a 11:50pm flight out. With young kids even a loungemight be boring for them, for that long. If you can have your larger bags checked through the whole way, perhaps you could hop on the train into Brisbane city and back? The airport line runs some direct services into Southbank, but be mindful of the last train back to the Airport.

AFF membership gets you a $200 saving off the Qantas Club price, its more than $200 annual fee for the QC.

So we are thinking of leaving luggage at Roma st apparently there are lockers there??
and will go over to south bank maybe wander around the city find somewhere for dinner then head to the airport around 8. Still going to be a long day night.
