What ever baggage allowance you get from each carrier on your itinerary.....unfortunately for me the one catch is going to probably be... what is the baggage allowance?
Note the "assisted award Booking" fee is currently 3500 QFF points (or $60) on top of the 140,000 cost. It changed from 2,500 on Dec 1.It’ll most likely end up costing 142,500 points as I believe it’s hard to do it online, so you’ll need to call… as far as I’ve read!

I sure hope Qantas is investing the revenue from this Assisted Booking Fee into making the on-line systems suitable for people to have a viable alternative to requiring the assistance .Note the "assisted award Booking" fee is currently 3500 QFF points (or $60) on top of the 140,000 cost. In April this fee will increase to 6,000 points (for international awards).
If it's two pieces for the entire trip if the USA is included in the itinerary then I might be able to make use of it. If the allowance changes every time you change to a new carrier then it could become a nightmare. I wonder if you get two pieces at 23kg or two at 32kg if the U.S. is part of your itinerary? I can't seem to find any rules listed anywhere that detail the baggage allowances. What ever baggage allowance you get from each carrier on your itinerary.
I think it may still be 2 pieces for the whole if you go through the USA and obviously on QF you will get the baggage allowance for your status level.
Many thanks for the reply. What I was trying to say (perhaps badly) was that given that different airlines have different weight allowances for the two pieces when flying with them to the U.S. which one would apply? The baggage allowance would not be specific to a QF Oneworld award. I believe the rules should be the same as any airfare that routes via the USA, Oneworld continent airfare and Global explorer.
There is general information on the Oneworld website on baggage. Many thanks for the reply. What I was trying to say (perhaps badly) was that given that different airlines have different weight allowances for the two pieces when flying with them to the U.S. which one would apply?
I had a quick look at the OneWorld site last night but couldn't find anything about baggage - I will have another look later on tonight.
Thanks for finding that info John. I can see it getting pretty ugly really quickly for me unless I use some pretty creative routing - probably QF to North America, then AA then another airline Eastwards from the U.S. through various destinations until I can pick up QF again. There is general information on the Oneworld website on baggage.
It would appear that the baggage needs to adhere to each airline's allowances.
Perhaps it would be best to look at each airline's website to understand the restrictions they impose or allow for travel via the USA. It may still be the piece system but I am not certain.
Welcome to AFF!I'm guessing the 140000 is for Y any one know if you can get a J class and how much??
will it just be double??
Does anyone know what Y class travel is ticketed as on this fare - Y, B or another code?Welcome to AFF!
It is 280,000 QFF points for J and 420,000 QFF points for F. Not sure how many QFF points for Y+. Does it even have it's own redemption level?
Does anyone know what Y class travel is ticketed as on this fare - Y, B or another code?
On the Oneworld award I believe it is X for economy (there are alslo sub-classes for Platinum and Gold), U for business and P for first class.Does anyone know what Y class travel is ticketed as on this fare - Y, B or another code?
Economy books into L, Business into D and First into A. (There are some exceptions with Business on two class AA flights, however.)
