You're over 35000 miles. See the above output from Amadeus.

Cool thanks for that. Interesting that GCMap is quoting 1000 miles short

I believe that you left out the SEA-LAX in your calculations. Surface segment distances have to be included.

Is this 280K J award called the explorer award and does that mean if my flight was just reissued, the taxes should be removed from my qantas flight?

I don't think it applies to Award bookings unfortunately

No and no. Sorry!

Hi travelislife,

thank you for your reply and apologies for hijacking the thread. To answer your question,no, we are not having a stopover in HKG. Thank you again for clarifying the situation for me, I will continue monitoring for availability on the whole leg, I was only checking SYD-HKG sector and vice versa.

re: "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Hi team - I need some advice...

I am trying to book JL772 (SYD-NRT) on 8/8/2017 and JL043 (HND-LHR) on the 9/8/2017. I have previously joined JL Mileage Bank and have looked for availability on there, which I can see the flights as 'Available'. I rang QF to book and they can't see availability. What am I missing here? Should I just call back and see if I get a different operator? The gent I spoke to seemed like he knew what he was doing though.

Thanks in advance.

I use the British Airways site to check JL availability. Had a look about 10 minutes ago and it was showing no availability for 08 Aug 2017, but searching again (as the webpage crashed..) it now shows up as 4 seats available...

Thanks wokstar.

I struggled to sleep so woke up at 4am and called again...

Happy as a pig in mud as I managed to snag the SYD-NRT flight I had my heart set on :) I could see it on JL, BA, AwardNexus so was pretty sure it was there. The booking agent was very helpful. We couldn't see the HND-LHR flight so booked on a NRT-LHR BA flight instead. Yes I know taxes are a bit more, but I am happy with it.

So after all that the start of my oneworld award looks like:

BNE-SYD Business QF
SYD-NRT First JL
NRT-LHR First BA
LHR-HEL Business BA

Did you get availability for GRU-JNB? Well done if you did as they are rare.
To be honest I don't expect to find availability for 2xJ on SYD-SCL or GRU-JNB :(
SYD-SCL will most likely have to be in Y, and I've never even found Y on GRU-JNB yet...

As Comair is a BA member affiliate, this means you can fly them on this one world award?

re: "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

I assume so, since it's a BA flight number.

re: "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

An older but novice member here with very few posts to date. Something I intend changing. So this is hopefully a rather simple question. With due respect to the gurus out there I suspect that I am making a simple mistake while on the QF site.
I want to begin booking one of the 280k RTW trips. I logged on my QF FF account. I selected the around the world option (not multi city) within the book main tab. I noticed that this seemed to move me to a On eWorld URL. I then selected the cities and then selected the actual flights. This all seemed to work and be within the rules included in my case flights with QR, BA, AA and finally QF on the last sector home DFW-SYD. I then choose the pricing option and the cost in $$ came up (fare and other costs). Question how do I get the cost in points plus fees an other costs.
Any help would be appreciated.

re: "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Need to do it as a multi-city Classic award

re: "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Yes, Global Tripper, what cjd600 said.... But if I may elaborate, to search for reward seats you pick the multi-city option and then you must remember to tick the "search classic award" box on the lower left.
Also remember that if you put in too many flights at once in the multi-city search QF's platform my have a heart attack. Maybe search for up to 3 or 4 flights at a time to piece together your itinerary.

And bear in mind it doesn't have to literally be RTW. That is sometimes an unfortunate shorthand description that causes confusion with Global Explorer (xONEx) paid fares.
