If that is consistent i think Manila might just be seeing a fair few of us start our journeys there!

I knew the the Philippines legislated no fuel surcharges on flights, but I didn't think it would apply for all segments of RTW trip so I wanted to try a few more and see.

MNL-HKG(CX)-JFK(CX)-PHL(AA)-DOH(QR)-SIN(QR)-MEL(QF)-SYD(QF) = 7,829PHP ~ 195AUD

MNL-DOH(QR)-MAD(QR)/MXP-DXB(EK)-SIN(EK)-MEL(EK) = 5,202PHP ~ 130AUD

I've tried a few with BA through England and it bumps the taxes waaaay up, but other then that it looks like MNL will be my departure point next year when we book our OWE (as long as the Philppines Govt doesn't change their legislation in the meantime).

Whilst it's great that the Philippines has no fuel fines, unless you are actually intending on heading there anyway, you would still have to pay for a fare to get to MNL so the saving is less than it really is on face value.

BA files their fuel fines (YQR) as insurance fines (YQI) which is why if you use BA you still get hit.

Does anyone know what time of the day AA releases their award seats ?
I'm looking for mia-scl AA957 on sep17th. I can see sep 16th has been released.
I can see the lan flights via lima that day, but not the direct AA957.
Is it possible to set up an alert for that flight ?

Not sure this is the correct thread, however I can see AA957 on the 17th Sep under AAnytime awards but not MileSAAver, but the MileSAAvers are available on the 16th and the 18th so I'd guess they have been snapped up already.

16th = >4
17th = 0
18th = 0
19th = 0 ( 2 x MIA-DFW-SCL available)
20th = 3

seems they are disappearing fast, is there something on that week in Santiago?

I'd be grabbing the 16th on hold for a few days and hoping some free up on the 17th soon.

Are you using AA miles or QF points?

I've had Iberia twice delete a flight from my booking.
The first time QF took a few weeks to reticket and the flight was deleted.
I was told IB took the seat back.
But when they put the flight back in it the ticket arrived within a few hours.
But a week later and the flight was deleted again.
CC said IB took back the seat on the same day it was ticketed.
So flight was added back in.
Now I keep checking to make sure IB don't take the seat back again.

IB requires a FQTR SSR for anything in a redemption class. If there is no FQTR SSR, IB will cancel the seat, ticketed or not. FQTR - not FQTV which is much more common.

If it's a PNR that was originally created over the phone, PM me the record locator and I can check for you whether your PNR is setup correctly. If it wasn't created over the phone initially, call QF and ask them the above.

That is definitely true.

But for us, we are intending to have a quick stopover in HKG. So in reality will only add 3-4ish hours onto the trip by transiting through MNL and save between $1,500-$2,000 then starting the trip from Oz.

How many surface sector are allowed in the award? Also is it maximum of 12 months between the first flight and the last flight? Thinking of splitting our trip into 2 over 12 months instead of 1 long trip.
Is there a one world carrier that flies into/out of Vancouver?

Yep. If we decided on a paid flight then you can get them fairly cheaply at around $400 with a bit of extra checked luggage, otherwise we will just utilise some additional points. Either way we'll be saving in the vicinity of $1,100 in cash between the 2 of us, that's a nice little bump to the kitty for a few hours extra & a re-check of bags in Manilla (and we'll have CX lounge access there so no biggy waiting around the airport).

1. Surface Sectors: you are allowed 5 stopovers (24 hours or more). So assuming your surface sector is more than 24 hours that would be 5 (although there was some discussion a few posts back that QF were counting a surface sector as 2 stopovers; however QF appear to have backtracked on this for now).

2. The last flight has to be booked before you depart on your first flight so effectively a little less than 12 months (depending on the carriers it could be as little as 10 months).

Generally how long it takes for the e-ticket to be issued that requires a manual adjustment? Yesterday I added a Japan Airline flight to my existing J RTW booking, but the agent had to manually adjust the points required because the system tried to double charge me on point cost. (The ticket was originally issued at 221k points, then it went to 280k points after adding a CX flight, but now the system doesn't recognise the fact that it is already at 280k points and tries to charge me for the difference between 280k and 221k points again when I add a Japan Airline flight).

In the past the e-tickets were issued really quickly but this time it's still not issued after a day, is there a point when I should start to get worried? My credit card and Qantas account hasn't been charged either, although I can see the additional leg in the existing booking and it is also visible on the Japan Airline website.

Re-ticketing takes longer than ticketing...

I emailed the FF team about potential overcharging mentioned earlier in the thread. They admitted there was, by taxes being calculated incorrectly and I got a refund of $500 or so.

There doesn't seem to be any pattern to this. Usually I find it gets reissued the same day but sometimes it takes a day or 2 or even 2 weeks as I had recently. If your itinerary is updated online it is probably ok. As long as the relevant airline doesn't take the seat back but that's another story.

Can you elaborate about the overcharging please? I might have missed it earlier in the thread.

If your itinerary is updated online it is probably ok. As long as the relevant airline doesn't take the seat back but that's another story.
