Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

They sure do.

Thought they did. Thankyou. When searching on the Qantas multi city tool it wont let me search cape town flights for some reason so started second guessing my self.
Trying to work out the best way to work our trip really is doing my head in lol first world problems:)

sorry for the vague and open ended question, but ive read quite a bit of this thread and think ive got the general grasp of oneworld RTW

this is what ive so far concluded (feel free to disagree or tell me im wrong)
i feel that the points requirement and taxes involved overall for a simple long haul to and back with no stop overs for 280/420k points is rather high
and compared to something like Singapore airlines, the taxes and points requirement are far lower,

so comparing apples and apples its quite poor value,

however things start changing when you start adding in multiple stops, so for example Aus to Africa to Eu to US to Aus as long as its below the 35k miles, , then the value of the RTW starts to shine,

am I barking up the wrong tree?

I generally agree. You extract more value by visiting multiple continents, especially the southern continents, or by visiting uncommon, hard-to-get-to places.

Then again, QF charges 256k points for a plain Aust-LHR return. If you were prepared to pay that then you would probably think adding just another 24k to add a stopover or two is good value.

Choice of airlines can have a great impact on surcharges....

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Wouldn't be jumping the gun, as discussed in that thread it all still seems very all over the shop so it would seem it's being gradually rolled out across different routes.
Still, it's a positive development... glass half full and all that.

Changing Oneworld Flight Reward flights:
14.7.6
Subject to this clause 14.7, the following changes are permitted to a Classic Flight Reward flight before departure of that flight, provided the booking contains one or more Flight Segments that are not within Australia, and the Flight Segment(s) being changed do not include a partner airline that requires a ticket to be reissued for the change...
(a) change to flight number; and
(b) change to date of travel.
... The only question is how do I know if the partner airline would need to reissue a ticket? ...

... I *suspect* that the reference to the re-issue of a ticket is to a paper ticket rather than an e-ticket.
In my case, I changed 2 connecting sectors with QR ...

What partner airlines do not (or do) require a ticket to be reissued for flight number change and/or date of travel change?
I am especially interested in knowing about AA.

AA don't.

From a selfish perspective, not so happy. Have only just worked out how to use BA site and managed to snag JL, IB and AA flights on my upcoming 280K award that resulted in much better routings and saved me about $1500 in taxes/fees. If these flights all start appearing on QFF, might become much harder to book.

Thanks for this madrooster.
In 2003, I tried to change dates for Mrs Jrobin's Oneworld reward ticket so she could return to Toronto from Australia three weeks early because her mother had been given a terminal medical diagnosis. QF said the ticket could be changed if it were all QF flights, as QF attempts to be flexible, but because the ticket included some AA flights it was not changeable. I called AA and explained the circumstances, and they said they had no objections to the ticket being changed if QF did not. Back to QF, and with some tears as I recall, the ticket (it may have been paper, I do not recall) was changed.
I am glad to hear that changes are somewhat easier now.

Late in June I will be trying to book J 280K OW award flights for travel commencing in June 2019
Me too - looking forward to my first booking - nervous and excited - seems the CX flights are easy-ish to attain, but Qatar and AA is going to be hard, every search I do wants me to fly with BA, with their ridiculous fees! Fingers crossed

Is anyone able to explain or point me in the right direction re baggage allowances. I have 11 flights booked ranging from 32k x 3 on JL (first flight), to 23k x 2 on a couple of domestic and intl flights to Sth America with AA and finishing off with 50K total limit on QR with a few other variations in between

I thought there were rules on these tickets that standardised baggage limits for these bookings

Any tips for getting Qantas phone operators to be able to see reward flights on JL? I can see them on the BA website but the operator said there is nothing.

Pele.

I give them the date, flight number, departure & arrival cities, and departure and arrival times. If that doesn't work, HUACA, preferably late evening/early morning and phone the premium call line.

Just because seats are showing BA doesn't mean QF can see them. It is not uncommon for airlines to make different inventory available to different airlines.
