NZ is a closer starting point in terms of saving mileage, but has similar surcharges to Australia and ultimately still means backtracking unless it is a destination you plan to visit.Apologies for questions that I am sure have been asked before but so far I have not found where the answers are.
I'm starting to plan my oneworld itinerary and I like the idea of splitting the travel into 2 parts, maybe a month at the start of the 12 months and a month of travel at the end.
I believe that means starting or ending the itinerary outside of Australia. I'm in Melbourne and I have seen suggestions of Bali and Singapore, but I would be interested in other suggestions that will work and be a short cheap flight?
New Zealand came to mind - does that work? Other thoughts please?
My second question might be a bit harder but I am trying to identify airlines and routes/flights that have first class cabins?
Just wondering how practical a booking in first would be or whether I would just spend most flights in business.
Thanks for this
Gary
MNL is well known as the cheapest and you can get there cheaply on direct flights from the east coast. But beware the issues of losing those price advantages if you make any changes to your itinerary.
Unless you are platinum and can request first cabins open up on QF, id suggest shooting for first will be very difficult. Personally I will aim for lots of Quite business in my next big trip
