Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

With the latest information on the QF website regarding changes, cancellations, flight credits etc., does anyone see any opportunity to argue for an extension of the 12 month ticket validity? Is there something in the language about flight credit validity being extended to 12/21 that could be used to argue the case?
I am also interested if anyone has had experience in extending 12months validity. My family and I are part way through a trip and we were due to fly from USA to Australia and back in August. Has anyone had success in extending?

I don’t recall any posts reporting success with extending beyond 12 months, even though the question has been raised previously. Please let us know how you go.

And welcome to AFF, even though you seemed to have joined in 2011. 😊

Edit: There have been some posts regarding Call Centre responses to this question. However, when changing my flights this week, the Call Centre, with 2 different CSOs, confirmed that it was 12 months (no extension)

There are two or three reports earlier in this thread from a month or so ago about people having success with extending the validity.

I also tried last month with 3 different operators without any success. As far as I'm aware nobody has reported being able to book a flight after the 12 months from the original flight. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. It can be hard enough to get them to follow the actual rules.

Most of my flights in the booking have been cancelled. I'd rather cancel n take the 78k point hit booking next time but worry about the refund timeline.

Hi all

I'm trying to maximise my next OneWorld J award (by slipping in a Singapore side-trip) and my greed is obviously tripping up on one of the rules, appreciate any advice on which rule:

All segments QF unless stated and transfers <24 hours

AKL - SYD - DFW - JFK(AA) (stop)
JFK - LHR (BA) (stop)
LHR - PER - MEL (stop)
MEL - SIN (stop)
SIN - SYD (stop)
SYD - AKL

cheers

Is the final leg counting as a 6th stop?

Thanks for the assistance, removing the final stop didn't work and reducing it to four stops didn't work.

It errors out on the second departure from Australia, even though the itinerary begins in New Zealand... I have misinterpreted that rule before, but I thought you could have multiple departures from a country except the origin country or city?

When you say “it errors out”, do you mean that the multi-city booking engine errors out?
If so, that is a common problem that occurs even to valid itineraries. Once the itinerary gets a few too many steps, the engine poos it’s pants and throws the error message.
The only resolution I’m aware of is to call QF and get a human to do it.
If you tell them that the website can’t handle the booking then they should not charge any assistance fees.

Thanks that makes sense. I will have to call.

Hi All

Been saving and have enough points to send the family x3 on a one world award. Obviously won’t be any time soon but has anyone with Bronze status successfully secure 3 seats at once?

Thanks

Bronze status only relates to availability of seats on QF; if there are only 2 seats available on your preferred route and day, fly with a different partner, different route, different day.

FWIW cancelled a revenue flight yesterday and was told 10 weeks for the cash refund

I don't mind the tax/fees component taking as long so long as I get the points back immediately as I will try n rebook in late July/early August.

Has anyone cancelled, if so did u do it online on the booking or callup/chat?

I cancelled over the phone and received the points back the next day.

So Qantas cancelled my entire booking yesterday

First leg was 20/02/2020 and this was our honeymoon

SYD-SIN
SIN-CMB-MLE
MLE-DOH-CDG
CDG-LHR
LHR-EDI-HEL-KTT
KTT-HEL-DOH-SIN-SYD

Phoned QF today and confirmed all taxes will be refunded but could take up to 10 weeks and all points, 318k per pax will be refunded

The honeymoon will now be in Aus.

There goes almost a years planning and booking. :(

Now to look at cancelling all the accommodation.

Yes, I guess that there are many of us doing the same thing at the moment.

With all flights and hotel bookings now cancelled, I have optimistically started rebooking the lot for June 2021. Never too early to start. 😀
