Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Of course, once you’re successful at adding the initial F sector, you may as well see how many other sectors you can change from J to F - there’s no further points penalty…
The trouble is, there are so few airlines and routes with F these days that you'd end up booking on routes you don't actually want, just to get max value from the points.

Thanks for the help, but I am mystified why I can see availability but the call centre can't. would it be that I am swapping a business class sector with a first class sector ?

Just asking, are the rules affecting time limit of a year and/or changes to the itinerary any different for a RTW awards booking?
And with RTW can you have more than the 6 segments?
This thread is about the Qantas Oneworld Classic flight reward. There is no requirement to go RTW.*

Oneworld’s round-the-world product is very different. It’s called the Oneworld Explorer. Details of can be found here.

Maybe what you are seeing is phantom availability.

Try and book it online. See if you get an error message or if you get through to the payment page.

To avoid confusion, the Oneworld Classic Flight Reward is not a "RTW award". There is no requirement to travel around the world.

The 12 month limit applies to all tickets.

The limit on the Oneworld Classic Flight Reward is 5 stopovers and up to 16 flight segments in total. My example just happened to include 6 segments.

This is the most likely explanation. I can't see availability on other Oneworld sites.

It's not phantom availability - I can see and sell the availability. There's 2 seats available on both flights.

You can have more than 6 segments… up to 16 as posted above. However note that the online booking tool will return an error if you book more than 6 segments. You can start your booking online, but you’ll need to call the call centre to help you out for the rest.

Is anyone able to see any availability on the SYD-SCL route? I'm unsure if QF has any date to restart this route ...

Qantas is currently selling tickets on QF27/28 from 27 March 2022 but I highly suspect this date will be pushed back.

I'm not seeing any award availability currently on this route with QF, although LATAM has some (this is not helpful if you're trying to book a Oneworld Award).

I am able to get through to payment page if I book the single segment. Seems like the segment in First Class can only be booked online but not through call centre which seems strange ?

Looks like you need to talk to Hobart. Good luck.

any ideas how to achieve that ?
Well, that’s the problem. Lots of HUACA, depending on QFF status. Although, you may never get through. 😕

Their hours, from memory, are 7.00am -11.00pm, AEDT, seven days.

We have seen the 12-month ticket validity go out the window, though. It will be interesting if that window stays open for another round of changes. The oneworld classic award I booked for family back in 2019 for 2020 was pushed back to 2021 and now back to 2022 but the first long haul (SIN-LHR) has already been cancelled with no replacement available. Will it get pushed yet another year? Time will tell.

Thanks Matt. I'm getting there.
