Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

I grew up in Kent.

I actually had a redemption booked that had almost a week in LAX. I struggled to think of what to do - after visiting Universal Studios there didn't seem to be much. I was honestly looking for side trips, including the possibility of getting a Caesar Salad in Tijuana. In the event, I could not get a visa for the US so I reconfigured/extended my itinerary to have a week in Tunisia and a week in Jordan and return to Australia without crossing the oceans. I feel relieved.

But I know that some people love Los Angeles and it would be a sad world if everyone liked the same thing. I remember from Wayne's World that Napoleon loved San Dimas.
its a weird thing, personally im not a huge fan of anything too touristy.. Luckily i had my friend who lives there, when i showed up he was all excited saying what do i want to see first, my answer was, im starving, know any good sushi joints, then we went to a big hockey store for a while, where i got semi harrassed by staff who were just curious about 'wow they have ice hockey in australia, whats it like blah blah' i think the next day we found an irish pub to watch the manchester derby at midday.

But back On Topic - So my changes come up in my manage my booking as all the new flights and marked confirmed (even managed to go to RJ and seat select). Does this mean its fully ticketed and sorted? even if i didnt receive the email the Call centre lady said i should receive?

You can check the ticketing on Check My Trip - click on the six character booking reference on one of the new flights and it will take you through to another screen. If that has a ticket number then it is all good, if it has a blank then it has not yet been ticketed. In my experience, it shows on CMT way before Qantas manages its back end to generate PDFs. By way of example, I changed a flight yesterday. CMT shows it has been ticketed and the QF website shows the new flight too (and also shows on the MH website), but when I click on the QF site to send me the itinerary it sends me the old one.

IME the flights showing in Manage Booking under your PNR don't mean much. Your new flights will show there while you are still on the phone to Qantas and definitely haven't been ticketed yet.

My preferred way to check is to go to Manage Booking, and click the 'Email itinerary' link on the left hand menu. If the itinerary/eticket which comes through is your correct, current booking, then it is ticketed.

If not, you need to get back on the phone to Qantas and get it (actually) ticketed ASAP.

I think there is a time lag on this though. My new changes have been ticketed. Yesterday evening Check My Trip showed the changed flights but a blank ticket number for the new flight. Now I have a new ticket number visible in Check My Trip that showed up mid morning and it applies to all sectors. The new flight shows up on Manage My Booking. But when I press the Email itinerary it emails the itinerary as it was two days ago. The PDFs from Qantas are not necessarily up to date - the online ticketing information on Amadeus is where it's at.

Completed a 318k OWA for Sep (2022) this afternoon. All done online.
MEL-SYD-JNB, CPT-DOH, DOH-LHR, XYZ-HEL, HEL-HND, NRT-MEL
e-ticket arrived immediately.

Not the most exciting itinerary (due to time constraints) but I get QSuites, SYD First Class lounge, and hopefully Finnair Plat Wing Lounge (OWE) at HEL which is supposed to be re-opening soon. Also JAL First class lounge. Not sure which DOH lounge is accessible by status / cabin class. If anybody knows?
I'll add in the XYZ-HEL when my plans have firmed and next season's EFL fixtures are announced. Oh, and if Putin hasn't invaded Finland by then.
JNB-CPT I'll do a rev fare, although I did notice both SAA and Commair (BA) came up sporadically as a domestic add-on when searching QFF awards across a bunch of days (just not when I wanted one), so may set an ExpertFlyer alert on that option.

~25,000 miles. 318k + $968.94

Managed to snag the seats I want on each sector. Originally JAL had blocked all the "preferred" seats however I went to Qatar's MMB, updated my pax info to include the OWE status, then went back to the JAL MMB and voila, all seats were selectable.

A question for those with more experience.

After all the dramas with my ticketing, we just noticed that my daughter's e-ticket has updated to show that her MEL - LHR flight is via DRW, and still has the old times.

Online under MMB it is all correct, just the e-ticket. And my e-ticket for the same flight is updated.

So should I be concerned? Should I try and call them yet again? :(

See my post at 11084. Check it on CMT to see what the real time booking is and expect that the Qantas PDF will be updated in a few days.

Thanks though I don't think she using CMT though I might suggest she tries it.

It has been like that for at least a month.

Do sign up for CMT - it will quickly show you if there is a problem to be fixed. You need to be able to see ticket numbers behind the booking code for every flight. I discovered this in 2007 when a reward flight on SQ had not been ticketed - I only found out two days before the flight when I tried to Book The Cook...

Don't worry, I am already. I'll get her to do it as well now.

Keep onto QF about issuing the correctly updated e-ticket(s)

Okay will do.

With CMT, I realised with all my changes my trip looked a mess with lots of old flights etc. So I just deleted the trip and resent the emails. Now looks correct for the flights but no confirmation details, e-ticket numbers, etc. Any idea how long it takes or why they are not there?

If there are no ticket numbers then it has not been ticketed.

Back on the phone again. 🤔

Well it was all there before I wiped it so just wondering if there is some other factor at play?

Definitely correct in MMB and on the e-ticket I just go sent again.

Otherwise I will.
Don’t rely too much on what you see in the MMB web page. Remember that MMB does not necessarily reflect the ‘ticketed’ booking details.

When viewing your bookings in MMB>Manage>Email itinerary. So, when you email a copy of the itinerary to yourself, is that the e-ticket that you are expecting, or is it the old e-ticket which has not yet been updated? If it’s the correct e-ticket, then all good. 😀

I realise that and it is the emailed e-ticket that I rely on and it is correct (and matches MMB)

For my daughter, everything matches and is correct except that on the e-ticket it still has the old times and stopover for the MEL - LHR flight. So I'll do a call tomorrow and see if I can get that fixed.

Last night, AY pulled the pin on their HEL-KIX route in October. This knocked out my routing LHR-HEL-KIX-HND/NRT-MEL.

After some searching, I found an alternative routing LHR-HEL-DEL-MEL in AY, AY and QF all in business class.

Called the emergency number and this was handled smoothly and has already been ticketed. The agent was very impressed that I had found the route and that I had alerted her I could not route through DOH as I already had two transits there.

I am due a refund of around $800 - the agent said this was because it was an involuntary reroute and I suspect I had already accumulated savings in past voluntary changes that had not been passed back to me.

Broadly happy - but means I miss out on experiencing JL and have two consecutive nights on a lie flat seat. Not sure how I feel about HEL-DEL-MEL - feels like I am only getting one third the value as only one letter changes each time.

Glad it worked out, albeit not quite as you would have preferred. Would you mind setting out the full route with stops? It is extremely helpful for thinking of routing ideas.
