Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

There’s are awards finding services that could probably help you with the complex itinerary. Doing it yourself can lead to aneurisms.

I wonder if these services offer free "rebooking" when airlines cancel or reschedule flights which we are seeing a lot of at the moment. I am guessing not.

Longtime lurker like most my dream trip was shattered (covid)and Qantas have since put their points and charges up.

So I now want full value out of my 35,000 miles one world classic rewards.

I want to start my trip outside Australia fly to Europe come back to Oz and have a trip to Asia (Japan,Manila or Kl)close to the end of the 12 months,as a 2nd trip on the one ticket.Getting my full value out of 318k and 35,000 miles.

It doesn’t end there will start my second one world ticket from Asia eg Japan going to USA and S America then home .

So 2 One world classic reward business flying business using japan as a finish for first trip and a start for the next trip. This can be achieved using Sydney as a stopover approximately 9 months.
Ending my first Trip in Japan and starting my next,

example.KL-FCO-MAD-Tel Aiv-(AMM)-SYD-HND then 11 months later HND-LAX-MIA-Peru come home via Santiago or back via USA.

Now I have access to platinum thru my step daughter. Her mother and I are keen to play the system. One of my queries is the 600000 point limit the total she is allowed to be transferred is that from one person or can 2 people give her 600000ea.
So brains trust can you see obvious pitfalls I am aware of most of the rules I don’t think I have broken any, also any tips that will help me out.
Whilst i think it may be the best value, keep in mind, if your trip is less then 35,000 Miles, you dont actually pay the full 318k in pts.

PSA: Looks like QR have released more J reward seats. I just scored two for Jan 2023 Perth-Miami via Doha. They weren't available a few days ago when I last checked!
Thank you so much for this post. I have just swapped out a rather dreary looking BA LGW-DOH for LHR-DOH on the upper deck of an Al Qataria A380.

No idea what is going on as 2 days ago I thought everything was finalised and then got told there was a problem with payment which I now think is their generic message for there is a stuff up.

First told my DOH-BNE flight is no longer on my booking. Next told that while they have found alternative routing that they first have to issue the ticket on existing flights before they can then add the new flights.

But of course I have to call again to have that happen!!!

QFF site says maintenance underway and no access to bookings - is this just me?

I'm on the 777 with Q Suites to LHR. The a380 is now available. Hmmm decision time!

Having flown both, I would choose the Q-Suites if you value privacy and the A380 if you're not a fan of being closed-in and would spend time in the amazing bar (assuming this is back to pre-Covid standards) I'd booked QR909 Q-Suites for September, had selected a lovely centre pair, and have to suck up the change to the A380 as there's no other availability around my dates. 😥 #firstworldproblems

Truly never understood this privacy thing. I’m not a rock star and I couldn’t care less if people I don’t know see me.
QFF now working - the agent told me that the issue was recognition of frequent flier number and status !!!
I had been hoping from earlier posts that Qatar seats were opening up to and from Australia. Certainly the case on the BA site but not much on offer on QFF in june or september.

600k total from all (transfer) sources. I had this issue when I was booking 3xJ OWAs; my wife is gold status but all the points were in my account.

Ending up having to call and eventually got an Aussie accent which was very helpful. Basically they booked under my wife's account and tagged her FF number to the booking, but used the points from my account.

Yep - 5.5hrs later changes made to 1 OWA - old flights removed, taxes calculated, credit card details given, on phone to ticketing team to ticket. Start working through next booking to change, get the flights and then get hit with the Qantas survey - nothing completed fully.

Pretty sick with covid atm and wouldn't be surprised if the flights disappear by the time I call again at 6.30am.

My backup phone got answered and hung up on while on that call - would normally just call back and wait again in the queue but I guess i'll just try tomorrow :(
4 phone calls so far since last night and I have 1 ticketed itinerary (new ticket numbers dated today on the PDF rather than text based email) - our main itinerary which now has MEL-DOH direct in Q-suites to start out honeymoon.

Waiting for call-back (also on hold on 2nd phone) to pay taxes on DOH-BNE-MEL (Q-suites) and MEL-DOH (Q-suites) to continue on our OWA after the issues with their system this morning.

I am at the point that I just want it all to be over :D

I also know this feeling so well! You know it has hit when you develop a visceral reaction where just hearing the hold music inspires a feeling of deep panic and dread. I'm glad that you are getting the QR seats though for your honeymoon :)
