Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

… Does this mean it needs to be reticketed? ….
Yes. I would expect it to be re-ticketed.

…. Do I just wait for Qantas / JL to hopefully put us on JL051 19.20 HAN-SYD-MEL best option I can see? Or do I try and orchestrate it myself
I would not expect the airlines to find new flights. I had a JL flight cancellation a few months ago and the airlines did nothing, despite an email from QF advising that an alternative would be rebooked within 72 hours.

Does anyone have experience with cancel a leg in a flight with transit?
For example, Sydney-Tokyo-Osaka. Can I cancel Tokyo-Osaka leg and keep Sydney-Tokyo only?

I have been waiting for awhile to begin a OWA for next year.
Today is the day I can start and entered all the details and finally get to
” problem with the central database” and unable to finalise.
Tried iPhone, iPad and laptop and all the same.
I don’t want to lose the flights and any suggestions other than calling would be appreciated.

If it's not married segments then yes you should be able to do a change to your booking to cancel the second sector.

Thank you. I was afraid call centre operator can mistakenly cancel the main leg which would be a disaster because there is no replaceable flight. I will call and give a try.

Maybe a temporary glitch? Why don’t you post the routes (aaa-bbb-ccc-ddd, etc) and someone may see if there’s any obvious (rules) issues?

I have been searching using multi city tool today with no problem. I did not go all the way to booking confirmation page though.

I haven't seen that error before. Often it might be one specific route that's causing the issues. Try one by one deleting routes and see if you can find the problematic one. Then book the rest online and call to add the last one.

I have just been advised by Fiji that the problem was a codeshare with Finnair and Iberia which is not possible

As long as you are happy that they know what they are talking about. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, who were the carriers that the flights were with? I assume non-oneworld carriers.

it’s very unusual for the qf booking tool, in fact any award booking tool, to show codeshare flights. With a couple of exceptions, awards are only available on the operating carriers’ flight numbers.

IIRC there are two flights where the exception applies, where Qantas operates a flight jointly with its partner, but that carries a standard QF flight number.

Ive just booked that same flight for next May but as part of a DONE4 and the RTW desk at American booked us in on the JL code share.....the plane is Iberia metal but shows all the code shares as its not Finnair metal

It was Finnair and Iberia from Helsinki to Madrid
As part of a DONE a code share won’t matter, code shares are allowed.

For award bookings it is usually only the operating airline code that is allowed. The HEL-MAD flight seems odd in that it isn’t a code share… it says operated by Iberia for Finnair, and it carries an AY code, much like domestic USA feeder flights. The Iberia website lists it as a finnair flight.

It’s certainly bookable on QFFF. Not sure why the call centre had a problem.

Sounds like HUACA until the right person picks up at the Call centre. The story that you have been given by Fiji sounds a bit suspicious. Maybe it was just to get you off the line. 🤷‍♂️

I have done an AY flight MAD to HEL as part of a OWA.
It was operated by Iberia.

Job done
3 calls to Fiji - 99% useless but SA 100% good even to the point of booking a flight that was not yet available on line.
FYI the Hel - Mad wasn’t a problem but still was to Fiji
Thanks to all for their input

I've just booked seats in J class for AUG/SEP next year this morning as the first part of a OWA trip, with the rest to be booked as flight availability rolls round - feeling relieved with getting these seats.

CBR-SYD-JFK (QF3)
JFK-CMN (AT)

How long should I wait for ticket numbers before getting concerned?

The ticket email has been received. So far so good, next flights hopefully CMN-IST, IST-AMM.
