Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Has anyone attempted a change to an existing booking recently with any luck?

Just trying to steel myself mentally (and emotionally lol) for a possible change I need to make for a ticketed OWA for later this year.

We have a stopover in New York City, flying into JFK, but the only available OW award flights out to our next destination are out of Newark
You'll have a better answer from Mr H about the status but having done that trip be aware that the traffic can be a real bugger so allow yourself plenty of time between flights!

Poster said stopover rather than transit, so should be ok!

I would definitely recommend checking in extra early at EWR though if at the old/current? Terminal 1 - we checked in at 4am for a 6.15am AA flight, and only made it out of security at 6.15! Luckily others were stuck in security as well and pilot delayed the flight until 630.

I find it's a bit of a lottery. The main difficulty is getting the booking reticketed. I recently had a minor time change which took 2 days and 15 phone calls to get reticketed. So if it involves an airline that requires reticketing within 24 hours, good luck.

Just had one reticketed and that part seems OK. However the (small) tax refund, points change fee and point activity on my account seem to have been processed incorrectly. It appears no refund has been put through and I have been credited 318K back to my FF account (it is a two person booking so half what was taken out when originally booked). The 2 x 5k point change fee also not processed.

eTicket issued and Award Wallet confirms all correct on Amadeus so in a bit of a quandary as to what to do.

Too much at stake with the rest of the holiday being booked and paid for, don't want to arrive at the airport and be denied boarding so on hold with Qantas as we speak to try and sort out.

As I feared... alas this OWA trip has a confirmed/ticketed QR leg which gives me hesitation to make any changes.

… and give the Call Centre another chance to really mess it up. 🤣
Well I trod very carefully and got nothing done. As soon as I explained what was happening, was told that all entries were being passed "right now" and no need to worry. Just got home and surprise surprise, notice that nothing has changed, may give it a few more days but me thinks Qantas are unlikely to rip themselves off so I will need to get this fixed eventually :(:(

Well, I can say that they ripped themselves off, twice, in my case. And it’s similar to yours. I never followed up, as it wasn’t my problem, and nothing untoward ever happened. Anyway, that was my approach.

E-tickets were fine. International flights were fine.

On a part flown OWA will any future flights that have timing changes require a new ticket or just a revalidation? The change was 25 minutes earlier departure on a single segment into a stopover.

It depends. I think for a flight timing change it will just be a revalidation. Given the flight timing change is involuntary it should remain as a transit and not be converted to a stopover. But if you were to make future voluntary changes it might affect the calculation.

Thanks for the reply :) A new e-ticket arrived yesterday afternoon, approximately 28-30hrs after I accepted the change.

Me again - I'm having a wild time trying to get Qantas to add a flight that originates in KEF. Finnair says it's available, it's available on Qantas multi-city if you search for it as part of a HEL-KEF, KEF-HEL itinerary, but there's no way to search for just KEF-HEL and I imagine that's something to do with why they can't find any availability when I call them. Any ideas on how to proceed?

Just say you want to add a flight to an existing booking, tell them the flight number, date and class of travel.

Have tried that with 3-4 agents - they say they don't see any availability, even though there is availability on both Qantas and Finnair's websites for that leg (and Finnair customer service have assured me the flight is available via chat).
