Ok now I know there are numerous old farts on this forum and we are in the play ground, so here's some news that easily out-performs all the DJ announcements and triumphs over the past few months.....................

Pink Floyds famous Animals cover was recreated for a solitary 1 hour spectacular yesterday morning between 6.30 and 7.30am GMT, at Londons Battersea power station. Of course a media stunt for the "Why Pink Floyd" phase 1 release, which also started yesterday.

Pretty iconic symbol I guess......

personally I prefer the Animals album than the carbon tax add :shock:

Of course the real reason I've posted this on a Flyers forum, is that it's not everyday you see a flying pig :cool: :D

Aaaah Floyd. Lucky enough to see them live (flying pig included). :)

I missed that opportunity :(.

For years I waited for them to put aside the petty differences and organise a reunion tour and I would have been on the first flight to where ever. Sadly with the passing of Rick Wright, that will never happen now. Still on the airport theme, I remember quite clearly when I heard of Ricks death. I was just stepping out of my car at Brisbane airport short term parking ready to catch the 8.00 am (or thereabouts) to MKY and I was so shocked/dismayed/unbelieving that I simply slumped back into the seat. I was on autopilot for the rest of that day, I can tell you.

Happily, I did see Roger Waters live a few years back (complete with radio controlled flying pig :mrgreen:) and I am booked to see RWs, "The Wall" live early next year, so not all lost I guess.

I really was lucky to see them circa 1990 in MEL. didn't have a ticket but a work mate's wife decided at the last minute she didn't want to go and I got that ticket. No regrets, fantastic show! One of my neighbours is Roger Waters' cousin. I don't know her very well but other neighbours who do went along to the show last time and met RW. Shame about Rick, guess we'll never see any sort of Floyd reunion now, though someone just sent me this link to DG guesting at a RW Wall concert earlier this year - I never thought they'd play together after Live 8 - seemed rather uncomfortable with each other, but there you go. Enjoy the show! :)

Edit: For some reason I couldn't quote your post when I replied - the reply just would not 'take' - weird.

I do recall some deal that was made. Can't recall actual particulars, but I have the feeling it was done in aid of another charity.....something along the lines that to get RW to play a charity gig, DG said he'd return the favour at any time. Favour has now been returned it would seem. I think Nick Mason also made a brief appearance that same night. RW still makes disparaging comments about the other PF band members and DG has quite categorically said he has no desire to reform. Such is life!

Her spin-doctors probably thought it was the epitome of post-apocalyptic Doom 'n Gloom, as in Mad Max, and used it thinking it was MFP HQ, which was really Spotswood Pumping Station. That said,
1. Battersea produced power from coal, and
2. Spotswood pumped poop,
so you've got an end result vaguely to do with Carbon Tax lies:
1 = hot air, and
2 = pollies output; hot air and p:evil::evil:p!
thus: result!
Bah!
