Looks terrible. And I'm glad for your sake the $5 bottles of Gossips are gone from the J cabin.

Looks like a great hotel ..

by the way how are those matching family shirts coming along ? Was Mrs Drron able to find a dressmaker ?

You wont have to wait too long ... our son and his family arrive next Saturday. But I did buy everyone a matching outfit, dresses for the girls shirts for the boys.
Bought them online from Hawaii !! ;);) Leaving it till we got here was just too .......

That afternoon's Happy hour. The birds provide entertainment whist I enjoy my Gold drua-a gin based coughtail.

Mrsdrron as usual drank sav Blanc. There is a buffet of salads dips and cheeses with 3 extra items that differ each day thoigh none exceptional.you also get 1 platter of hot items-1 each of 3 choices.none i would rate as good. But the view is special.

On our third day we decided to have lunch at the Toba bar and grill between the main pool and adults only pool.We looked out on the adult pool.
1576572507251.jpeg.

I had a bowl of Kokoda. Not the best I have had and we shared a mushroom pizza which was excellent.
1576572730705.jpeg.1576572744779.jpeg.

Mrsdrron had a lychee flavoured gin coughtail.
1576572810732.jpeg.1576572828374.jpeg.
The bill came to $119.

We then went for a walk along the beach front. It really is a nice beach and perfect for young children.

Time to head back.
1576573566569.jpeg.1576573582858.jpeg.

A dip in the plunge pool and then time to try some more of the clubs coughtails.
1576573656834.jpeg.1576573726674.jpeg

A vodka, orange and coconut number that I disliked so to an old favourite-mojito.this definitely not the best I have had.
Whilst we were partaking of the complimentary drinks and canapes there was a good thunderstorm.Fortunately it had stopped when it was time to go back to the room.It was a long way.All of 10 metres.
A nice rainbow.

The next morning mrsdrron decided to try the smashed avocado. That tiny little bit sticking out from under the salmon really was all that there was.
1576574728022.jpeg.

I had the full Island breakfast.
1576574765775.jpeg.

Back to the pool and whilst I was doing my exercises mrsdrron took some pictures of the birds that visited us every day and really had no fear.

Our last day at the IC and some passing traffic.
1576575251896.jpeg.

Final session in our pool but another storm was brewing.
1576575292846.jpeg.1576575308454.jpeg.

It started to pour.

It has been very dry here so this would have been appreciated by the local farmers.
it cleared in time for us to share another mushroom pizza for lunch and then get our transfer to the Marriott Momi Bay.

So final thoughts on the IC Fiji. The room was fantastic.the offerings at the IC Club weren't great nor was the service.I wouldn't return.
For families with young children being by the beach would be great.they do seem to have a lot of children's activities and for the really young Fijian women are tremendous baby sitters.

have been told by someone who should know, that all OZ/Fiji flights are booming, but Fiji/USA flights not so, which is possibly why in low season, fares return to Fiji start at around $600 while return fares to LAX or SFO via Fiji start around $800.

Obviously in peak season those fares don't apply. With QF not flying SYD/NAN/SYD 3 days a week with own metal IIRC, that has had a downward influence on fares to Fiji in low season, where have seen them go down to $500. Considering same distance as BNE/NZ, shows nowhere near as much competition as say BNE/AKL.

So on to the Marriott Momi Bay.Was in 2 minds about this stay as not really enamoured of Marriott compared to the legacy SPG properties. Also this is a manufactured resort with a newly built lagoon..It was an easy run from the IC.In fact they are very close and a not very good gravel road of ~ 12Km does join them but about 40Km via the tar.
We were upgraded to an Ocean front Bure. There are over the water Bungalows but after being here 24 hours I am very glad we did not get one.Further from everything and of course in the man made lagoon. So to our room.

and the view.
1576654700997.jpeg.1576654714483.jpeg.

Even better with a glass of wine.
1576654753179.jpeg.

We did bring 5 bottles of wine and a litre of gin.Could have brought another 2 of wine but really couldn't carry any more with bags 23.6 and 22.9 Kg.

Quite a lot of wildlife. This moth though didn't last long.
