Out of options to churn Velocity cards, any suggestions?

In the past 10 or so months, I've churned through quite a few (6 to be exact) Velocity and other bank reward cards, where the points can be converted to Velocity.
Naively, I didn't realise how many of these cards are actually all issued by Citi/NAB.

Whilst my credit ratings on both Equifax and Illion are still excellent, I've been getting auto declined for any new card applications that are issued by Citi/NAB (which took me two unsuccessful applications to realise).
When I say auto declined, it means I will receive an email stating I have been unsuccessful, within a minute of hitting the submit button for the application, and no enquiry is recorded in my credit history.

In detail, I applied for the following cards, in the following order:
  • ANZ rewards black
  • NAB Platinum Rewards
    Virgin High Flyer (NAB issued)
  • Citi Premier (NAB/Citi)
Westpac Altitude Velocity Black (now has a TWO year waiting period to be eligible for the points promotion as a new customer)
  • Suncorp Clear Options Platinum (auto declined, NAB issued)
BOQ Platinum Visa (auto declined, NAB issued)
  • St George Amplify Signature (successful with no issues, after both Suncorp and BOQ were declined)

This really only leaves me with Amex, unless I'm missing something?
I had hoped to be able to continue to churn through 6 or so cards per year to maximise sign up bonuses, but at this stage I'm not sure if this is possible ongoing.
Does anyone have any suggestions or strategies they have been using successfully in the past?

Are there any other cards that are missing from the above list, and that I should consider applying for (not Citi/NAB issued)?

Thank you for your suggestions.

You may just have to ease off on the churning for a little while - I ran into the same issue earlier this year after churning a mix of velocity and qf cards. I don't think there are any decent earners left to my knowledge.
It might also be worth checking all your previous cards have been removed from your credit history as being active - I was declined because I had about 4 still listed as open despite being closed!

I’m in the same situation as you, including the auto declines from Citi. Amex also declined me which I have read they are often doing with people that have a lot of credit card applications.

With Citi I think it’s best to wait several months, in case each time you apply you are resetting the clock on the blacklisting. It probably needs a good 3-6 months break.

There is also Medibank’s Velocity health insurance offer as an option.

I’ve temporarily switched my strategy on new cards to ANZ/NAB/CBA cards with cashback options, as they seem to have independent waiting periods from the rewards cards. That way my spending ccntinues to bring some benefit in the meantime, while I wait for the exclusion periods on the VFF cards to pass. Also helps me justify to myself the fees I paid for the rewards cards and to keep me in ‘profit’ for the year.

Welcome to AFF!

The Commbank Smart Awards Mastercard is a possibility. It has a pretty good sign-up bonus at the moment, and because its minimum credit limit is so low ($3000) there should be a pretty good chance of the application being approved.

Also, if you want to keep it, there are no international transaction fees.

Going forward, I’d consider applying for PLATINUM level cards rather than Black cards. The sign-up bonuses are slightly lower but so are the minimum credit limits, increasing your chances of approval.

You should try Amex Velocity Platinum due to it's points earning capacity.
People seem to be hung up on churning more than earning.
I have earned 200,000 VFF points this year and 150 status credits.

There’s also Coles Rewards Mastercard - but a pretty low bonus of 50k Flybuys pts…and also NAB owned…upshot is you can apply for a low 1k limit if combined limit is becoming a problem…
