Overhead locker assignment

Implementing a carry-on luggage fee may be the answer. It may get pax to check in luggage rather than towing luggage into cabin. Means, hopefully, more space in lockers, faster boarding and on-time departure. And extra rev for carrier.

A couple of airlines in the USA did this, with the naturally accompanying panning for the decision to do so.

Much simpler method. Ban anything with wheels. If people have to carry it to the gate, then ideas of what is acceptable will change dramatically.

I have to admit to taking a shine to this idea!

Same as meetings....just remove all of the chairs, and they become short and sweet.

Not really - then it's a battle of both psychology and endurance.

Effective meetings are only achieved by locking people in a windowless pill box until they deliver 3 veritable outcomes or actions.

Perhaps the SIL went too far, but I believe it probably depends on just how much of tosser the guy was. Simply being offended for someone moving your gear to another locker would be insufficient. But if the offender was a real cough, maybe it was justified? In any case, the story caused me to laugh

Concur. I'm sure if it was a case of hogging the overhead or moving someone else's stuff they wouldn't have gone ot such an effort.

Unfortunatley, there are some people who are just such inconsiderate a*holes they need to be punished. Equally, there are very few people who will do something about it. A bit of street justice is fine by me.

Moral of the story. Be nice to people and they wont retaliate. If you act like a d**k and annoy everyone around you, you might fall over, and accidently hurt yourself.

Relocating someone's shoes is really no diiferent than the guy in first relocating the other person's entire bag to the hold.

I, and I am guessing others, chose not to reply. I hope I do not come across people like this on a flight who may believe my actions are not right in their minds and then behave like spoilt children....

Speak up. If someone is moving your bags say, "Excuse me, please leave my bag where it is," and within reason stand your ground. You can ultimately call an FA to intervene if necessary.

Waiting for someone to fall asleep and then hiding their personal belongings is simply not on could land you in serious trouble especially on some airlines or in some jurisdictions.

As in all things, you have to be careful before passing judgement. A real tosser (and they exist) deserves IMHO whatever they get. But you just never know - a simply perceived slight could actually be a totally different reality.

If for example a family suddenly had to move to another country and take all their worldy possesions with them on one flight, I would feel empathy if they maxxed out on the ¨allowable¨ carry-on baggage, regardless of what class they were travelling on.

That is totally different to the flapwits that abuse the lack of enforcement of normal rules in sheer selfishness.

I highly suspect that the same people who are selfish are also tightfisted. A small charge on a weight based system of carryon ($5 per kg?) would probably dramatically reduce this problem, while only adding an insignificant cost to flyers. I would happily pay an extra $30 if it solved the problem.
