[-]790SC[/-] 770SC US$819 booked for travel at the end of June. I have three nights in PTY to regroup.

But regardless of that I will be checking my sanity at the door of the first flight.

Just grabbed an AU-NZ run for 600SC at AUD2.93/SC (With 50%SC bonus). Without the bonus it would be 400SC at AUD4.4/SC.

Might not suit everyone as it's ex-DRW and requires an overnight in either SYD or MEL.

This stellar run for USD405 was posted on FlyerTalk a couple of days ago:

LAX-LAS-PHX-PHL-CLT-MIA-PTY

I believe it earns 470 SCs and a little under 14k QFF points. Departs LA in the late afternoon, travel through the line and reach Panama about 8pm the next day.

Still a good fare ...

I've been looking at a variant via ORD. .. Not so many segments but with the return 600 for USD750 and three meal flights each way.

Another one from FlyerTalk which has got to be the longest I've ever seen:

LAS-PHX-JFK-DCA-RDU-CLT-ATL-MIA-PTY/PTY-MIA-ATL-CLT-RDU-DCA-PHL-PHX-LAS

Subject to the usual caveats about my calculator skills this earns 750 SCs and 25200 QFF points (Platinum) for a cost of GBP608.90. I could price it for AUD1067.10. Well under $2/SC.

The fare requires an overnight in ATL both ways (arrive 11.58pm, depart 7am on the outbound; arrive 11.39pm, depart 5.50am on the inbound). Arrival into PTY is 11.54am and departing again at 3.35pm, possibly even on the same day.

Great value but kill me now! ;-)

There's much better routing options available... it's a MPM fare and you can literally go through any continental US airport you wish.

Just booked LAX-PHX-JFK-DCA-MIA-PTY / PTY -MIA-JFK-LAS-LAX for July on AA. Could probably do better, but it is still good, 690 SC under $2/sc. Overnight in DCA and PTY which is ok as I have time and will be staying somewhere regardless. Could I do much better? I have 24 hours to change.

Hello

new to this site and trying to get 60 more Tier points to hit platinum, I live in Adelaide and I was looking for advice on the best value way to get those last 60 tier points. Apologies if this is not the right place to post.

this is the right place! :)

I'm thinking your best bet is probably something that transits MEL or SYD for the cheapest price. You could do something like ADL-xMEL-HBA flex Y one way and red-e-deal theway back (40+20SC) or perhaps ADL-xSYD-OOL same deal (you'd get slightly more doing ADL-xMEL-OOL). CBR could also be used, but I suspect higher fares involving limited ADL-CBR routings (I was thinking something like ADL-SYD-CBR-ADL or similar)

or even a ADL-PER r/t in flex Y? though I suspect that's more expensive without looking it up.

Hope these suggestions help :)

Questions should be posted in the questions and discussion thread: Best QF Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

This is a brutal itinerary, but as i see it earns 750 QFF status credits for just under AUD860 with current sales. Nearing the 1 aussie dollar per status credit!

YVR-PHX-SFO-LAX-CLT-MCO-MIA-PTY / PTY-MIA-EWR-DFW-YVR

All first class domestic except MCO-MIA, which is in business. International flights in business too. Sadly no lie flat sectors though.

A note for those researching a US Status Run for the first time (like I did last week): there are common themes that make it easier. Qantas gives 120SC for F between New York/Boston and Dallas, so that's a good leg to have in there. You can tack a extra leg onto the NY end for 30 virtually free SC. LaGuardia is an underrated AA hub for this.

For instance, I'm working in Washington late next month and I've just booked DCA-LGA-DFW-LAX all in F, 240SC for $US530 or under 3AUD per SC. Comfortable full-day trip heading west. Just NY to LAX would have been 150SC (and more expensive for direct); Washington-DFW-LAX only 180SC for $US500. JFK-DFW-LAX gives 210SC for around $US520 which is a decent start.

It doesn't have to be complicated, return, or involve Puerto Rico or Central America, although you can get marginally better value that way. I booked an open-jaw with the current QF sale for $A1,110 MEL-JFK / LAX-MEL. Good price but a woeful 115SC, so the bonus 240SC makes a huge difference to close the jaw.

If you want to earn more SC this way, you can add a stop between DFW & LAX for 40SC such as DEN, SLC or TUS (30 for PHX / LAS) but I found the extra SC were not as good value, around $US4 each.On the eastern side, you can go via CLT or ORD or both but again the value is marginal compared to NY-DFW direct.

Happy hunting!

I have to get LAX-NYC in one day in November, so: LAX-TUS(or SLC)-DFW-LGA. 10am departure, arrival 1024pm 40-90-120 SC for 250 for US$583 ($2.33/SC)

(could have added extra sector somewhere for slightly less $/SC eg LAX-TUS-DFW-CLT-LGA (290@$2.27), but would need to catch 6am or 620am flight from LAX...getting old, would like a little more sleep in a bed....)

(current cheapest ECONOMY fare on AA is LAX-PHX-JFK for 30 SC, so marginal cost of 220 SC is US$383).
