Which dipstick is this medhead? Hopefully he has nothing to do with Britannia Roundabout.

I'm not going to mention names. He is a senior member of his party in Canberra.

I don't know the details of the Britannia roundabout, other than something about 2 roundabouts. That sounds like utter madness as well. The Britannia roundabout would be fixed by making it larger, and hence able to operate as a real round about, by removing the mess at the western side where one road crosses another road before joining the round about proper.

Is she involved in that Britannia roundabout thing? She has been mentioned in relation to another traffic issue by my member. Another example of poor priorities, IMO.

No. The roundabout is all Weatherill's fun.

No comfort either way, at all. I was just interested in the statistics of it from an academic POV. I thought -1 ALP would mean +1 LNP hence the question and then wondering where the 1 went if not the LNP.
Clive Palmer recruiting passengers. He had an ad on local TV here in Canberra last night. Um, I didn't even notice until I heard his name right at the end, and I have no idea of his message.

However, if he's trying to buy his way into Parliament, he'll have a few followers.

Now,now Medhead. This time you really are wrong. It is my local member who is the real dipstick.;):p:shock::(
Dunno if it's worse to have dipsticks than drones like we have. Canberra seats are safe for Labor because it is widely expected that Tony Abbott will dismantle all the unnecessary bits of the public service.

I haven't really closely followed the palmer story however I have liked the few bits I have heard. For example, the bust up with the qld LNP seemed to be based on some finely expressed principles from the small amount of that message that got to my ears. (Sorry I can't remember the details)

If he is buying votes, I don't see a problem as all parties do the same. Hence my disappointment at the failure to reduce reporting requirements for donations.

That's fine. I was disappointed at the increase in public funding. I make sure that my vote attracts no money for any major party.

Yeah, Palmer will get a few votes for his style and the fact that he's new and he's not one of the old established mob. But I can't see him winning any Lower House seats - that's a huge hurdle to clear - and in the Senate, there might be chances with the flow of preferences for that last place, but it's unlikely.

Really he's just handing money to the media. If he has a message, it's not resonating.

If he wanted to dump a few million, why not find a worthy cause? Build a school or an orphanage or something.

The increased public funding was pretty cough. But I guess that was part of the trade off. I think the donation situation was big enough to wear the cost. That public funding could've also helped fund a third force, which we are missing IMO. I also think that despite how the politics played out all parties were happy to shove their noses in that trough.

As for palmer, I think him and Katter will have to gravitate together eventually.

Someone needs to teach Gillard how to knit. That isn't the way you do it if you do much knitting. It is the way you knit when you are just starting to learn. So this isn't the real Julia and that kangaroo isn't going to happen.

But hey, let's focus on the important stuff.

She knitted these for Fifi Box's baby:

If you are using that as proof she can knit then that isn't the way you hold your hands. Her right hand should be under the needle not on top of it.

WTF this is living proof that she will stop at nothing to try and get a vote. Pathetic.

I don't think whether a person can knit or not is worth getting in a twist over or wasting any more pixels.

FWIW, I was taught to once but have not done so for over 35 years and would find it hard to do so the days.

It's quite likely JG was taught to knit at an early age and may have continued to do so - does not make any difference to her fitness or not to be PM.

I sowed on a button recently with a sewing kit i got in the LH arrival lounge in FRA, quite like those sewing kits, handy to have around and wish i had grabbed a few more... :) And yes perhaps many moons ago i learnt a few over and under stitches etc...

With all due respect i think i will get a pro Tony to do any hemming etc but at least he is giving it a crack.. :)

And while the knitting leaves me pretty luke warm with JG (about as heart pumping as scrap booking) it is neither here nor there in terms of her qualities (although not sure it would resonate with the younger female voters)... I did tend to think she actually looked half decent in those photos, sometimes she looks like a bit of a stork, but she didn't brush up to bad for that photoshoot...
