Three years ago they supported a change from nothing per tonne to about $24 per tonne, with the expectation that a floating price would see it at about that level or higher.Greens aren't selling out "on a core party platform" as the existing legislation (which they have supported) brings in a floating price in 2015.
Green wet dream.
They aren't going to turn around and vote to accept a fraction of that price one day sooner than they have to. Not without something really juicy to compensate. What would you set as a fair price for a year of emissions?
Nevertheless, the Greens are needed to support Rudd on this. He can't do it without them, they are saying, "Up yours, Ruddy," and there's not one thing he can do about it besides bend over before them. Why is he trying to pretend otherwise?
