And the hits keep coming..... Business fears poor revenue outlook will hit tax breaks

If these people were running a real business they would be facing insolvent questions....as they hop on their tax funded family trips around the world Greg Combet took partner Juanita Phillips on first-class trip to Europe | thetelegraph.com.au

Wonder how many working families he bumped into up the front.

Looks like the members are hard at it putting their hands on as many glasses of bubbles as they can leading into the election.

Hilarious, well not really..... :(

"The taxpayer-funded trip earlier this month included visits to Paris, Brussels and Berlin where Mr Combet - touted as a future Labor leader - delivered a keynote address to the "Towards a Global Carbon Market" conference."

How's that EU carbon price looking ?

LOL LOL LOL

I'm finding it depressing actually. Originally I was pleased that so many blunders were coming to the fore so this incompetent bunch would be ousted. But the depth of their stupidity (and the latest, the carbon tax and the fact that this money has already been budgeted for and spent) I'm just getting more worried.

Indeed - What makes it worse is all the cutbacks and changes the Libs will need to complete when they take over

Then people will whinge about cut back services etc etc....

But the Libs have done it before and I see no reason to think that they won't be successful in this instance either.

Was reported at my daughters State School assembly this morning that Wayne Swan and Peter Garrett will be at the school next week (IIRC). Great to see that my daughter won Student of the Week for her class this week, so was presented with her award by a schoolteacher this morning and not a (insert your own thoughts here) next week :D.

I'd want her to kick them in the shins :o

Combet just wanted to expend a whole heap of carbon dioxide, as opposed to the usual load of vaccuous, hot air, before he went to the conference so the topic could have an ounce of relevence to his snout in the trough, junket...

People who like to lecture everyone else about the dangers of global warming often like to have the highest individual CO2 output....

So you're raising her to be intolerant of others and to respond with violence when you don't get what you want?

Surely if she was able to argue against their policies etc it would be better and teach tolerance and negotiating skills that will serve the country better?

It was a joke Joyce. :)

NBN to reach 1 Gigs per second by the end of the year... That's 40 times faster the Coalition plan... Parts of Japan are already moving to 2 gigs a second.

Faster speeds have made a real difference to Japan's economy;)

Maybe this is the problem....the salary men are filling their day watching super fast cough & downloading the latest J-pop video.

NBN | 1 Gbps Internet Speeds By End Of 2013 | Broadband Network

About Japan - they may have around 3 million FTTH connections out of 70 million land line connections, in a geographically smaller country with a higher population density. Nice comparison there.

And looking at the history of telecomunications in Japan - guess what - they progressivly built fibre to the node and still use an existing DSL copper wire network, some satellite, cable and wireless (and a little fibre to the home) starting with a monopoly but now moved to many privately owned competitors.... what a surprise! Just like nearly every country in the world has done.......

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story! ;)

But seriously, there will be about 3 people in some backwater labor heartland that will actually have an active NBN connection by the end of 2013, so perhaps they can have high speed downloads from the guy next door. Winning!

As Pushka noted, it was a joke hvr, perhaps my use of emoticons is slipping :o

At 6, she's probably a little too young to start arguing political policies against Swan and Garrett ;)

Is it true that the flood levy tax of about $750 million has been retained by Wayne Swan and he is refusing to hand it over?

She could probably come up with better, more coherent policies, but yes in the bullsh*tting/doublespeak ability stakes they would run rings around most people, grown up or kids... :)

Well the report is not confirmed but if it is correct then yes we all need that flood levy we paid back in our pockets.
