Without mentioning the car rental company ( which I can later, if not going to get ME in trouble ... )

I used the PC Shopping website to book a rental for four days in GC.

Logged on and used the appropriate advert. thumb ... but the car company says it didn't register as a PC Shopping refereal, and so no PCR points.

Further, the rental desk at GC airport had never heard of PC !!

Later, the NSW Head Office for the XYZ rental Co. also denied that PC was a points 'partner'.

When the manager used the URL I supplied to show where the advert. was, they had no XYZ car rental Co. show up ... but they were on the correct website ( yes, you need to be logged on to go further, but they couldn't even see the advert.s correctly, so denied their company was actually there !! )

The rental Co. was promoting quadruple points + upgrade for two or more days. I was expecting 2,000 PCR points ...

Any advice ??

Avis, Budget and Hertz are normal PC Partners for earn, while Thrifty and Europcar are not PC Partners, but in the case of Thrifty you can earn points through the PCR shopping portal, that does not make the PCR partners, Europcar purchases are only for non Australian purchases.

The PCR mall is just a referral commission website, rather than getting cash back you get PCR points, it's a poor earn rate and not worth bothering with, 2000 PCR points is $14 worth, you would probably get more than that at starthere.com.au. All shopping purchases show up after you make them if you do decide you want to not maximise your return and use the PCR shopping mall instead, so a quick check after booking can prevent such errors occurring in the future, and keep in mind it takes at least 90 days to post.

But they are denying they are associated with PCR ...

Not just an issue with points not posting ...

You missed the point, if they are a PCR shopping mall partner only, they dont have a relationship with PCR, they pay commission to a third party (often TradeDoubler or Affiliate Network)that then gets turned into PCR points by PCR.

What your asking the car rental about is a bit like rocking up at the IC Hong Kong and wondering why they dont acknowledge travel world Albion Park is partner despite you booking the accommodation with them and them getting commission! Have you tried walking into Westfield and ask them if they are a PCR partner, or Big Brown Box etc etc

If they are not listed as a partner at the rewards site then they are not a PCR partner, so shopping issues need to be directed to the shopping website!

"Missed the point ...". Oh, that's a good one !!

Thanks for your advice there Markis. I see what you mean ( I won't say I see your 'point' !! )
