I hope you're not trying to bore me with crystallography :rolleyes: - or is it one of Jupiter's moons?

Europa - same principle at play - solid freeze, partial thaw (or tidal flex), break into chunks, float around, get caught and freeze up again.

And some pretty cool nunataks in other pics, but you knew that.

Great idea! The earth was created 4.6 billion years ago, give or take. I'd better start in the car, on the drive south ... :shock: :rolleyes: (One of our driving companions is also a geo so can fill in any gaps I miss :lol: )
 
Absolutely amazing. Would love to get down there some day. I did apply for a summer job once but wasn't lucky enough to get it.

I would love to do this, but I would so badly want to set foot on the Antarctic soil, that I would end up distracted.
