PER T1 and T2: walk from airport terminal to train station

How practical is that for a not-often visitor to Perth? Checking the Smartrider Retail list doesn't look like anywhere in PER T3/4 or Redcliffe station sells these. Looks like I'm better off just paying for a cash ticket - or make my way over to T1/T2 on the airport shuttle bus and start my trip into Perth City from there.

You can still pay for a cash ticket from the machines using a credit card though. You just can't tap on/off using a credit (yet). That was allegedly coming mid last year. I think the new machines have been rolled out to all train stations but delays in getting them installed on buses and apparently software issues have caused the delay.

And someone shutdown the 3G network, so they had to replace the modems on the buses. I guess someone forgot to add that to the project plan....

Between Terminal 2 and the Train Station you used to be able to walk through a carpark and then up to train level, shortens the walk by a few minutes. Looks like that is now blocked off(???) as they are building a multi storey carpark there so have to do a loop to T1 and then across to T2/Train Station.

As others have said, to and from T1 it's easy as. Regular trains. Cheap fare. No stress. If it's late at night though or eary morning..like really early ...look for alternatives. It won't be running!!

The new SmartRider hubs (as part of the upgrade project) have been rolled out to, amungst other places, Redcliffe station (SmartRider Upgrade Project). You can buy a 'regular' card at one of these. FWIW, there is also one at Airport Central as well in case the kiosk at the station and the shop in the terminal are closed.
