In the PER Dom QP right now, albeit 4:55am..plenty of room though it is filling up rapidly.

I have no problem with high-vis shirts, it is afterall the indursty I am in myself. But I will say there is a difference between those who wear high-vis shirts that are tucked in vs those that don't..

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the hi viz brigade make up a small portion of the patrons of the Perth QP.

Virtually all FIFO workers mobe & de-mobe in civvies!

The "hi viz" folk you see in the lounge are for the most part the "suits" you would ordinarily see in any lounge, just that they are making a day trip to site!

In a crowded lounge you get to sit with working Australians. I like that.

The point is that you don't get to sit.

I don't mind who is in there - if you fly all the time for work you deserve to be given some appreciation by the airline. The expectations of behaviour apply equally to all patrons. What I do mind is not getting a seat, not getting a meal, not getting to the bar, not being in a peaceful relaxing environment and not feeling safe. I've experienced all of the above in most lounges around Australia.

Fact is on average we're flying more than ever before (hence the introduction of P1), so lounges designed for quieter times or lower pax numbers aren't coping and aren't providing the product as advertised.

I can understand a gripe on most of your comments . . . but need you to elaborate on why you don't feel safe..???

Given the rivers of gold business that is occurring in Perth presently, I am more than a little surprised that they're not putting in a J lounge as part of their upgrade. On previous complaint to QF about the shocking overcrowded facilities at PER, I was told tat they are limited by the infrastructure atthe airport; so perhaps this is why they are expanding the QP only (ie, fit more in for scarce floor space). Although from memory there is under-utilised retail space at PER so you would think that they could have a separate, non-collocated J lounge if the really wanted to.

They could not agree with PER on commercial terms last time they tried, not sure much would have changed.

I believe that the management who run Perth Airport are not the sharpest tools in the shed. The mining boom and passenger increase has been happening and been predicted for many years. They are only now beginning to do something and the new runway (if it does happen) is some years away!

As for having a separate J lounge in Perth I do wonder if it would be worth it bearing in mind that there are so many Platinums.

It might be ok if they were to enforce the dress standards required of lounges; but honoured as much in the breach than the observance.
